V6 Supercharging
Hey guys, im looking into supercharging my V6. Before anyone says it, ive already asked about it in the V6 forum and there isnt much info there at all aside from turbocharging. Also, i do not want to do an engine swap or anything else so please keep those types of opinions to yourself.
Anyway, i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions as far as which supercharger to use for an application like this since the engine is so small. After some looking and with my limited knowledge Prochargers B-1 and Vortechs V5 look like the best option.
Aside form the supercharger itself what are the essential parts ill need? From what ive read an intercooler isnt necessary but recommended. Do i need a specific tye of BOV? What about the MAF in my situation?
Sorry for all the questions im sure youve seen before but this stuff wasnt as easy to read up on as turbo info.
Any help would be greatly appeciated. Thanks

Re: V6 Supercharging
you didnt find much info becuase...well... the turbo stuff is easier to do. parts are easier to come across as well. thats just my opinion though
and the few of us idiots that are actually building v6s are few and far between.

Re: V6 Supercharging
like ive mentioned to a few ppl that have brought up the supercharging aspect for a v6.
if ur going centrifical supercharger u want a p600b headunit
if u want to do a roots blower a m90 will be fine

Thanks project 89, ill look into that. Why that supercharger in particular? As for those who think turbocharging is easier, i dont see how.

Re: V6 Supercharging
Its not to bad.. Im doing it (adding a turbo)right now and seems to be going some what smoothly and not too much$$. involved if you just do a little here and there.
Turbos nice because you can basically stick it anywhere you can find room, unlike a s/c where it has to be ran off the belts, and im sure its different to tune, also the drag on the motor from the belt operation(compared to exhaust from a turbo)

Re: V6 Supercharging
as far as the blower
an m62 would work but wouldnt support a whole bunch of power
the turbo is far easier to mount and costs much less then a p600b headunit + the cost of making a good bracket
u have to rember u have to design a bracket thats sturdy and wont flex and the belt has to be perfectly in line or u will just burn up or throw the belts off the motor
