Re: Engine runs, sounds good, no power

I played around with the carb a bit after getting off the phone with edelbrock tech, it's a bit better, but I think the timing is still off and so did they. The coil is a stock delco, just haven't...

Re: Engine runs, sounds good, no power

Yeah, I mean it's not my first choice in carb, but it's what I have to work with for the time being.. When I can afford it, I want to pick up bowtie vortecs, an eb RPM style manifold, and a QF 650,...

Re: Engine runs, sounds good, no power

The plugs were getting fouled up pretty quickly, originally, but I leaned it out a bit and they look alright, haven't fouled up since.
Yeah I know the cam isn't matched to the heads, but I bought...

Re: Engine runs, sounds good, no power

Anyone? It jumps off the line but falls flat after. Timing light showed 60* at idle. Took out dizzy and reinstalled a tooth over, still the same. Moved plugs a spot over, no change.

Haha, good point sofakingdom. It does have headers and 3" back, though. I just have a hard time believing that it's such a dog, again, my 1.5L 90hp toyota puts it to shame.

Re: Engine runs, sounds good, no power

Sorry, been busy with work and driving my suburban, but I'm still having problems. The carburetor I have on is a 1406 edelbrock. No computer control, it was a v6 RS swapped to an older model 350 with...

Re: Engine runs, sounds good, no power

It doesn't have a cat. I sprayed some carb cleaner around the base of the intake and it does drop the rpm slightly, so I'm going to take it off and drop it back on with a new gasket, but can that...

Engine runs, sounds good, no power

Hey, I've got a pre-86 350 with a comp 280 magnum, ported heads with 2.02/1.6 valves, etc, and it runs smooth, idles around 1000 RPM, revs well with no misfires, backfires, or hesitation, but it...

Re: Budget high TQ 305 build for less than $500

The easiest mod, really? Not once did I say it was the best, I also pointed out that people with know-how would do otherwise. If anyone is pushing, "my idea is the best," it's you. The 3.06 first...

Re: Budget high TQ 305 build for less than $500

It is an 87, it's not a roller, it has 081 heads.

3.42s take away from the fuel efficiency, I intended this for beginners that could easily do this on their own. It's a turd of a cam, but it's...

What's involved? Can the car run well without o2 sensor, ccc q-jet, dist, etc? I'm only getting around 9-10 mpg as it is. Changed plugs, wires, oil, running 2.73s, and a 305.

I've read some...

Awesome, thanks man. I'm running 081s, unworked. I saw that they flow 195 @ .5, should be able to get close to unworked 350 vortecs out of them with porting and valves I believe.

Would it be more cost effective to have the 081s worked or buy a pair of bare S/R? What kind of flow could a first timer get out of the 081s, sticking with 1.84/1.5? If it's cheaper to get the 081s...
