Re: My '87 Trans Am

I'll keep updating in case anyone is interested. I know these boards aren't nearly as active as they were years ago. Got the motor together enough and popped it in memorial day weekend of this year,...

Excess Play with Comp Rockers?

I put together a 350 for my car a few months ago. Wound up getting it into the car, engine runs strong. On driving it I noticed a noise seemingly coming from the valve train. From the get-go I was...

Re: is There a difference in body’s between a firebird and camaro.

Doors and hatch are about the only sheet metal that’s the same between the two cars. Also, depending on what it is, the piece might have all the wrong holes in it.

Re: 383 build spec help needed

Are the extra cubes of a 383 over a 350 worth all that much to you? I found myself in the same situation not too long ago. Didn't want to deal with a hit and miss machine shop, so I wound up the...

Re: T/A Decals On A GTA?

They were not. They were all tune-ports, but you could have a peanut cam LB9(305) auto GTA, the worst performing TPI cars of all.

Re: No airbags?

Of course not, if the car didn't come with them new they're not expected to be in there. They're a feature that can't be retrofitted.

Airbags DO have a lifespan, or at least these early...

Re: Coolant Leak...Somewhere?

If that's the hose with the drip is the one that goes to the bottom of the radiator is the one you're talking about, then the water pump is 100% leaking. The leak may have been there for a while....

Re: 12V across coolant sensor connector?

That's called a test light, and it won't do the job. It doesn't put enough load on the wires. Ideally you would use a headlamp bulb, but the 3157 bulb I use does just fine. I really only use my test...

Re: 700R4 - Changed oil and filter now have a 2-3 flare

Re: Crank Pulley seal question.

No, you can't. It's not sealant, it's not anything serviceable. The damper is 2 pieces bonded together; they're coming apart. Must be replaced.

A stock replacement is less than a hundred bucks.

Re: Anyone ever deal with water leaking onto front floor from cowl area?

Pull back the carpet on that side. Run a hose into the cowl. Watch the water permeate through the floor at the seam at the front of the floor pan. The cowls seem to rot out on these cars.
