I was actually planning on doing this.

Since I'm painting the engine red I want something to compliment it, and I think painting the bay black would make it "pop" more.

I'm in a similar situation as you man. Lotta sentimental value, but alot of rust. I just finished taking the interior out, and am planning on taking the engine and drive system out to kill the rust...

Oh, if only. I'm working off an almost $0 budget here, I'm selling parts and other things around the house as I go along.
And as for getting a new body, this one has alot of sentimental value...

Thanks, but that's not really what I meant. The bracket that holds the rocker to the body looks spot welded on. I have a torch, but I wouldn't know how to go about removing it.
