worked like a charm. trip odometer appears to be working and resetting correctly now. Disclaimer... i only tested it by spinning the piece the cable would fit into by hand, but it seems to work...

ok, did some more testing. found that the base gasket is bad, which is pry causing the high idle, IAC ended up being alright.

As for the blades, i tried checking on my suburban and the throttle...
