The rims are 17x8, 4.5" backspacing.

Tires were purchased in 04', but they've been indoors out of the sun since then. No cracking or rot at all.

A 8.5" 10 bolt is plenty strong, but you still have the torque arm, spring mounting issues.

The gauges use a different sender than the ECU. The sender is bad, or your wiring is shorted to ground. IIRC it is yellow and black wires going to the sender you need to check.

Are you sure it is a wire? May be a capilary tube. Cut that, and you've junked the gauge. I have NEVER seen a electric gauge that didn't disconnect from the wire.
