No, the belt is fine, and all the front end components are in perfect condition. I get no belt noise (squelling at all ), the steering just completely freezes up and the pully on the pump is turning.

Use two small C-clamps with a small piece of wood between the squeezing surfaces, this will prevent damage to the rubber line. I believe the G.M. TSB's state 20 minutes is a normal bleed down time....

Our engines are prone to intake gasket leaks, that's probably the problem in your engine. Head gaskets if the cooling system is flushed regularily don't go that often.
