Re: EST bypass wire

Funny thing is, the tach jumping went away. I rechecked the timing after tightening the dizzy all the way and it is dead on 6* BTDC. I took it out for a little spin and it smoked the tires and barked...

Re: 7730 ESC Self Test- how does this work?

Cool. Don't mean to hijack. But, for a new ECM, did you have to replace the whole ECU? Is yours on the MEMCAL in the ECU?
Thanks, hope all is working good.

Re: EST bypass wire

I didn't know you were supposed to check the codes with the engine running. Manual says to check with ignition on, not running. Which then a code 12 means the diagnostics are working? Should I check...

EST bypass wire

Hi all. I am having problems with my 1992 Z, 305TPI. If the bypass wire is plugged in the car won't start, if it does, it spits and sputters then dies within seconds. Now, with the bypass unplugged,...

Re: Timing Was way advanced, now it's set right?

I know code 12 isn''t a fault. I just figured with the way it runs with the bypass wire plugged in, it would flash some other code.
I have double and triple checked the the firing order and plug...

Re: Timing Was way advanced, now it's set right?

IF the computer is bad, would it even throw a code 12? I can't believe I am getting no other codes! Timing is dead on. But something in that bypass plug, electronic spark control, or the computer...

Re: Timing Was way advanced, now it's set right?

Unplugged the ECU and reset the code. No more code 42. Just code 12. I am at a loss here!!! Could it be MAP related? When I try to start it with the bypass wire hooked up, it will not stay running....

Re: Timing Was way advanced, now it's set right?

The engine fires right up and idles fine with the bypass unplugged! I checked the wires and they are good. So, I just read a code 42. My neighbor had a reader. Does that sound right? The EST system?

Re: Timing Was way advanced, now it's set right?

Re: 305 won't stay running

I meant what is your timing set at? Also, I could be wrong, but if you had a vacuum leak, it wouldn't idle that great.

Timing Was way advanced, now it's set right?
