finally got this done today.
simply grounded the black wire with a white stripe in the plug down by where the ecm was and the cruise works perfectly now.

the supplied fuel and spark maps look a lot like that, but the car literally won't run with those maps. it just dies after a second and spits a bunch of raw fuel out the exhaust as i crank it.

update: the non functioning touchscreen was a result of using the stock switched power wire that used to power up the stock ecm to power up the Holley unit.. it apparently didn't have enough juice.....

status update:
had everything in the car and hooked up on saturday, ready to fire up..
turn on key, handheld display flickers to life.. then resets over and over again.

my car has a speedo cable so the speedo operation will be unaffected by this, and the Terminator controller i am using has no input for a VSS signal anyways. i might try to trick the ecm into locking...

-had to clearance the flange on the AC box a bit for the rearmost coil, and still need to finish up a bracket to slighty relocate that coil up and towards...

just looked it up on rockauto. they show the same lightweight flywheel as being a direct fit for any 85 and earlier Camaro with a 305 and even the 69 with the 302, and they range from $50 to around...

most common low performance passenger cars had the smaller 153 tooth flywheel going back to the dawn of the small block- and even the legendary 302 powered Z/28s from 67-69 used the small flywheel...

they switched to the one piece rear seals in 86, so order a 153 tooth flywheel for an 85 Camaro with a 305 and you will be set. you can get them in either standard like GM used in millions of cars...

i won't need any transmission control once i swap in some flavor of manual transmission in the future. the 700r4 that's in the car currently will be set up to lockup whenever it shifts into overdrive...

it might not add a ton of stiffness to the chassis, but it has to be stiff due to the loads from the torque arm pushing up and down on it... i can feel the flex in the stock crossmember in my car...

the starter should sit flush to the block, then the bolts just go thru the starter and into the holes in the block... i assume you put your stock flywheel (or a proper stock replacement) on...

if you want the sound of a high revving mall displacement V12, then get a high revving small displacement V12..

a V8 will always have a lower tone than a V10 or V12.. i personally love the sound...

the 96-99 engine is the way to go, but the cam doesn't have a lobe for the fuel pump so an electric one will be necessary... unless you swap in a different cam...
