Are you saying that it cranks normaly but wont start, or that it wont start because it is cranking slow . Slow cranking when warm could be a bad starter or one that is heat soaked.

I have never had a 2.8, but if I remember corectlly the 2.8 and TPI had high pressure pumps and the TBI had a lower pressure pump. Is there a chance that got a TBI pump by mistake ? One of the parts...

Clear flood mode is holding the throttle all the way to the floor while cranking. This should shut off the injectors , so if you were over fueling or flooding it would help clear the flooding...
