Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

He hooked me up with his L98 he removed from his TA, so i can get the 89 going just to drive it while i figgure out what the heck is the deal with my new motor. I hope he gets his LS1 swap done soon so he can start hitting meets again. Verry cool guy for those who have not met him yet.

Thanks again John.

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

Aww is right. You're welcome Zane. I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing that engine again

The LS1 is still on the stand. I've got the motor, transmission, driveshaft, gas tank, and exhaust removed currently. Should be able to get the 01 tank in next week (with a modified aftermarket sender for 0-90 ohm action!) and start tearing into the 700r4 for the needed modifications for the LS1. Pretty soon I'll be buying wiring...and wondering if ARD can do my exhaust/tune...

One of you ARD guys can hit me up on PM. I at least need to get the minimum tuning done and some test pipes to fire the car up before a full tune/exhaust job.

Back to work...

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

Also - I found my box of TPI tuning parts. I'll add this to the sticky too, but maybe somebody will see it here and I can gather more funds for this swap...

The kit I have is Moates.net GPI Package ($55 new)(http://www.moates.net/index.php?cPath=25_36), the Burn1 Flash-n-Burn chip burner ($85 new)(http://www.moates.net/index.php?cPath=51), and the older version of the ALDU1 AND CABL1 XtremeALDL cable kit ($80 new)(http://www.moates.net/index.php?cPath=49 ) - which is also USB.

All new - this would cost $220 + shipping. I believe that's around where I paid. I've only used the cable a couple times (it works great). The rest of the equipment is still in the bubble wrap. I'd like to get $170 for everything including the cable.

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

Me or John?

Well, i started removing the engine, got a late starts so the trans and driveshaft are the next to be removed tomorrow. I have a headache so it is moving slower than i wanted. Not to mention i had 1 intake bolt off the TPI that did not want to come off of Johns old engine....broke 4 torks bits! I want to finish it tomorrow but i might take a trip to the dentist so it will delay the completion till ither my next days off or the upcoming days after work. I wish i could have started the night i picked it up, it would probably be working. Engine looks great inside, the plugs i removed looked like they have been running lean, that is about it. The valley looks awesome for 160k miles, no build up to speak of really.

I will let you knw what your old L98 sounds like with huge exhaust and converted to carb as soon as it is finished

Sweet! I knew it was a good engine - and it had been running lean since I got it.

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

The crank has allot of end play, i dont think it will hurt anything. I just installed the pilt bearing and got it in the car, i will have it running soon, i would have it tomorrow if i was off, but i will atleast have it all in by tonight.

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

Got it in, got it running. Runs verry well and has plenty of oil pressure. I need to tune it a bit but i have to get the rest of the exhaust welded up tomorrow and i should be driving it every day.

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

Alright then, got the exhaust on and a decent tune. Runs well, drives like stock. Pulls like a stocker but not bad for a 2.73 gear. I am pleased, thanks again John.

Glad the engine is running for you. Where's that exhaust clip?

It's an odd feeling I have.... like I've donated an organ or something.

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

Well - bought my wiring harness & power steering setup today. Scheduled some vacation for the end of the month too. Maybe with some luck and hard work I'll have an engine ready for a harness by August

Re: Thanks to 3.1EyeCandy

Excelent man, my L98 is running very strong for what it is, but as i say, i am sure ditching the TPI had allot to do with it. I have not found anything to run yet that might be close but i will let you know if i get it to the track.

Good luck, i hope it flys together for you!

I thought about coming down to that "meet" you talked about in another post tonight. Would be kinda awkward to show up in a 96 Camry though
