Good machine shop/engine rebuilders in the Houston area?
Looking for a good machine shop/engine rebuilder in the Houston area.Thinking about dropping my engine (305 TPI) and having it worked on. Needs a new crank I think and everything that goes with it. Also thinking about a 350 if its about the same price. Any advice is appreciated

Re: Good machine shop/engine rebuilders in the Houston area?
I have used a place called Motor Reco or motor reconditioning. they did 2 of my old 383 tpi motors over the years. He used to be downtown near the toyota center but moved over near hobby airport. They are a small place but have been around since the 50's. 2nd generation engine builder, owners name is James.
or you could go with USA racing engines (whop shop). They are right behind my business.
Its a sbc..any place can do it. And Yes go with a 350 ...in fact if you need new crank, rods, pistons go with a 383 stroker. the kits a pretty cheap. then you could get a mini ram, heads..oh wait.....this is how the $$ickness begins

Houston Engine and Balancing Services
1615 Shaver, Pasadena TX
I recently went through rebuilding a 355 and it took me 3 machine shops to actually get done what I paid to do. The above mentioned shop was the last stop. They were very good at doing what I actually paid them to do. Unfortunanetly I don't remember know who the first 2 rip off artists were, or I'd rat em out.

I've had "West Side Machine" do work for me before and never had any complaints. I expect to use them again.
They are near Hammerly, between 290 and West Belt.
