Cruisin The Coast 2016

I just went to register for 2016 CTC.
The cut off is still 1989.
They have done this before.

My 1st car entered in CTC was a '77 Bonneville (it was 25 years old), my t/a was not ready yet.
The next year my '84 T/A was done, but not 25 years old. I received an exception and was entered.
For the next 3 years - I was "grandfathered" in.
(Since I was entered in a previous year, as long as I pre entered the next year - I was allowed)
Then CTC removed the "grandfather" clause, so I had to wait for it to be 25 years old.
Then, in 2009 when I went to register my car - it was still not eligible
They held the cut off date for a five year period.
By the time my '84 was eligible to register, I no longer owned it.

This event is not a show - it is a week long Cruise Nite
There are fine cars there and like minded car people in abundance
When you register your car, you are allowed to park in the Venues.
It Is $60 to pre register and $90 at the door
It is a blast whether you can drive into the venue, or walk in.

This last year (2015), they had over 7600 registered cars.
Even with 5 venues - that is a huge amount.
CTC has to put a limit somewhere, or add more venues.

A good amount of entrants who have older vehicles want to keep this event for their genre of vehicle.
I remember them complaining when the first year of vehicles with rectangular headlights were able to register, they complained.
When the PT Cruisers, Vipers and newer Vettes were allowed to enter -
the older car genre folks did more than complain, they did not come back the next year. CTC then changed their rules, they returned.

Now, I believe it is a matter of size.
7600 cars at 5 venues is 1520 cars per venue
When planning this event with Gulfport, Biloxi, Waveland, Ocean Springs, etc.
There are logistical challenges that we do not consider

Be patient - the 90-92 model year cars will be able to enter eventually
It is worth going to with friends

I now have 1 - 1988, 2 - 1989's and a 1991 Fire bird's, in various models.
I also have a shop in Gulfport, so this event is convenient for me.
If anyone here is going to attend this year, we could possibly meet up??
Good third gen people are hard to find!!
