1991 Firebird Window Regulator Removal

Hello, I have a 1991 Firebird with power windows. The regulator on the passenger side is broken and I need to remove it in order to replace it, the problem is, I can't figure out a way to get it out of the door. Anyone know how to get it out, or where I can find a tutorial on how to do so?

After I get back from school, I can see if I can post a link to a tutorial. There definitely is some information on here on what to do.

You will need a dremel with a cutting bit or a drill to drill out rivets. The regulator is riveted into the door. You'll then need to get at least 3 bolts with nuts in order to secure the new regulator on.

Whether its power windows or manual, it's about the same amount of work to change the regulator. It's quite helpful to have a friend hold up then window also while the regulator is coming out. If not, then make sure the window is rolled all the way down before you take out the rivets for the regulator.

Thank you, but the regulator is detached from everything and is just sitting around loosly inside of the door. The problem I'm having is that I can't get it out. I tried pulling it out through the big hole in the door closest to the back of the car (rear access hole?) And it just gets stuck because it seems there's not enough space. The regulator was like this when I got the car, and the window is being held up with wire. Will I need to get that window down in order to get that regulator out?

Oh okay that makes sense.

You should be able to pull it out the back access panel. I just recently converted to power windows, and I used that back area to pull the old regulator out and put the new one in (with the motor attached to the power regulator.)

You have to make sure the regulator is fully detached from the window before you try sliding it out the back hole though. If it is not, you may have to free up the window and move it around to get both arms off the window (they slide off towards the rear of the car only) before the regulator will come out.

Once the regulator is off, you may have to manipulate the arms on the regulator a little bit to get it to fit properly, it's kinda a puzzle getting it in and out, but it will fit.
