Time to do the rear brakes. For street/strip/track use what brand/line would you recommend. Usually I just go to the counter and get raybestos or bendex - avoiding the no-name brands like Wil-Stop (R) and Never-Fail (R) but this time around I'll try something new.

What about EBC (green or red ?), performance friction, etc. I'm not a brakes pad affectionado (sp) like other people, so those that do know how I drive and what I do and know the pads, what should I look at.

Try Stillen Metal-matrix pads. Stillen (Steve Millen) is located at 3179 Airway, Costa Mesa. (714) 540-9154. These are the best brake pads I have ever tried for street and light track use. I have been running them on three of my cars for aprox 10 yrs now. You will notice right away a vast improvement in sweet spot (better control under hard braking)

Perfomance Friction Z-rated Pads for 1LE brake option. A good pad for the street with little or no brake dust. Also nice quite stops and a reasonable price.

I'm running Hawk pads in back that I picked up thru Truck Performance back when Mike P. was still there. I've been pretty happy with them.

I can't remember, are you running an A4 or manual trans in your car? Something to keep in mind with metallic pads on the back of our cars — the e-brake will not work as well for parking since our cars were never designed to use metallic pads on the rear axle.

When the pads are hot the e-brake will grip, but as soon as they cool off the e-brake will not hold as well and the car could roll. A brake shop informed me of this way back when and I have experienced it first hand on my car with the Hawk pads. Just an FYI for you.

I have a manual. When I park I leave in in gear anyway. I always considered parking brakes as back-up anyways as I never could trust them.
