Blue Bunny is retired from drag racing
At 7:45pm Friday, October 3, 2003 I picked up the Blue Bunny from Cruzen Performance. Precisely at 8:31pm, Friday, October 3, 2003, at a small ceremony, I officially retired the Blue Bunny, a 1985 Camaro Z28 owned by James Fearn, known to be driven by Mike Perez, and current record holder of the "Southern California Thirdgens (SC3G) Quickest N/A E.T." while being 100% smog legal, from drag racing duties. It will serve as a dependable daily driver indefinitely and occasional open track car, but may make exhibition runs for worthy events. The only events that may bring it out of retirement are if Mike Perez installs his planned super-ram setup or if the quickest N/A title is challenged or broken, both of which are not likely to happen anytime soon. There is no sense beating on my 12-second car when the competition is only running 13's at a track on the same conditions.

No, it’s true. We sent the recently upgraded 3-4-shift fork out to be bronzed and the time slip should be back from the vacuum packers later this week. All we ever wanted to build was a stout daily driver not a local champion. But what’s done is done…

But alas, as I stated earlier I do not plan to drag race the car anymore. The direction I'm taking my suspension and mods now will only further hurt my performance in the 1/4 mile and degrade my competitiveness in that field. I'm sure Vincent is content at going all out 12 to 13 seconds at a time to feel satisfied but I need several 20 minute sessions of technical perfection to get me in the groove.
So, yah Dwayne, if you want to race (compare lap times) maybe you can swing by an open track day sometime. I plan to become active in that field starting the beginning of the year. I should receive the rest of my suspension goodies this week and have my setup working sometime next week. If it proves/feels balanced then I'll try and sneek a track day in before Christmas.
Also, We didn't have to drag my car down to Carlsbad to get a 12 second timeslip. It was just driven to the local track and equiped with ET streets and ran it's numbers in the 90* heat of the night of Fontana in July and August. The mid-12 second runs were still at fontana, albeit at a more favorable temperature and better fuel. I'm more impressed with Dons 13.01 at Fontana then Vince's 12.95 at C-bad (nothing against vincent).
