Vincent = No Show

....well not exactly as I will explain.

He is our correspondence:

ME (6/15): Irwindale on thursday: I'll be there...will you????
VINCENT (6/16): Maybe
VINCENT (6/17): (7 HOURS LATER) I'll be there!!!!!!

So Mike and I (along with my niece and nephew) head up there fully expecting to settle this Vincent situation once and for all. It's put up or shut up. Mike talks to him on the phone and it appears Vincent wants to race on street tires. I'm not one to bring a knife to a gun fight and expect to win and neither should he. Nope....run what you brung. If he didn't bring tires that will stick he's done before he even pays his $20. But Mike says he'll take on that challeng and race Vincent on Vincents terms.

So after waiting in line for a couple minutes Vincent says he's already there. But after looking all around for a red 86 Z28 we don't see him. Then we see him pop out of a white 89 Z28. Not only didn't he bring even a knife to a gun fight...he brought a spork. It turns out he had no plans to bring his car and only wasted out time, gas, and money. He claims he could bring his car because his IAC is bad. After some further prodding he lets out that he already purchased a replacement IAC motor and only had to install it....a 10 minute procedure for even a novice as he has a coolant bypass; tools needed: 10mm socket, 6" extentions and a slot screwdriver. He could have changed it in the staging lanes or even from the tme from the burnout box to the staging point. That excuse is the weakest I've heard so far from people not willing to go up against team Blue Bunny. Here are some real excuse from real people on this board in no particular order:

1) I can't race with a 10-bolt. (hey, I have a 10-bolt too)
2) My linelock isn't working (to make it fair I won't use miine either)
3) My IAC isn't working right although it's been like that for the last couple weeks I've been driving it and I have a replacement in my glovebox. (when your at WOT I'm sure the IAC isn't going to be too much an issue)

So to make the story short Vincent was a no-show. I guess the intimidating presence of Team Bunny along with the notorious stature of Mike was enough to make Vincent think twice and not bring his car. You know, for the last year whenever I've been to the track, and have let Vincent know I was going to the track, he has never brought his car. He has been there watching but has never brought his car...always having an excuse. I think Mike and I know why but maybe you guys can see something we can't.

I'm sure Vincent will come back with some intersting tories but you can't beleive everything you hear or see unless you know what's behind it. What you see stated above is the truth and anything stated other than that is to distract you from the truth.

All this above is straight up . I was notified the night before about going to Irwindale.

James was so nervous that he forgot to close the hood before making a burnout. So after the burnout and prestaging, he got out to close the hood and lost the race aganist Julie. When he finally left the line, the car

Ah yes, we can’t have shenanigans without Vince now can we. Since we are back to the same old song and dance I (and Gloria Gaynor) have written a little song for Vince. We shall call it “Vince’s Credo”

Enjoy!

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking the closest I would ever get to the bunny
Would be tail lights
But I spent so many nights
Thinking why my combos wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
And so you're back
And want to race
I just walked in to find you here
With that **** eating grim upon your face
I should have changed my futura tires
I should have learned to leave the line
If I had known for just one second
You’d be back to beating me

Go on now go go down the track
Don’t turn around now
'cause my cars not quick anymore
Weren’t you the one who waved half track
As you passed and said goodbye
You think I'd crumble
You think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
As long as have TPIS
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my cash to give
I'll even get a second on the crib
And I'll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
Not to fall apart
Kept trying hard to mend
The pieces of my broken car
And I spent oh so many nights
Just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
And you see me
With something new
It’s not that slow *** 85 that was
Obsessed with beating you
And so you felt like lining up
And just expect me to bring my car
Now I'm saving all my motor
For someone who cant beat me

I had a pretty good time. I got to beat the Blue Bunny! But I was so shocked to see James sitting there back at the light running out of his car to close the hood, that I just about stopped in the middle of the track and ended up with a lousy time. It would have been my best run, too. (a 2.057 60')

I wish Vincent had raced the other car he brought, then I would have beat the both of them!

The other two runs, I raced against some old camaro that barely pulled away from me in the top end. I got a 9.44 at 75.45 mph (tires got loose) and following that, got a 9.21 at 75.10 (heat soak), which are starting to look like my average times.

Yes, I'll be at Fontana on the 26th (next saturday!!!) to get my *first* 1/4 mile times. (in case anyone was confused) I got there too late to race, last month.

I hear the track there is not as sticky as Irwindale's, which isn't good for my little 225's. If the tires don't get loose... I could possibly get low 14's. We'll see!

With talent like that, it's a wonder Mike isn't in show biz. He could write the songs for his clients and then promote them!

I wish I could make it out there tomorrow.. But something weird is going on with my car. I had a Converter bolt come loose and I though that was making a Rattle.. Don checked under the car and said I have one of those Noisy rattling cats now.. So I go cool atleast it's not the Converter or something.. So I come home and Im thinking the fix is Gut that puppy right.. Wrong that made it rattle more Now the car is louder and when I started it the crazy neighbor down the way starts yelling and cussing out the Window right.. Im going to call the Cops.. I was like Oh great all I need is a cop show up while Im experimenting.. So he showed up and it was a Joke the lady was going whacko in front of the cop.. We had a talk and he went on his way..

The reason why I wont race on my ten bolt is that it is not mine. I am borrowing it until we get my 9-bolt back in the car. Then the 3.73 10-bolt with disc brakes will be for sale. If I take it to the track and break it, then I have to pay to rebuild it. I'd rather not do that.

To finish up my previous post, James car bauged while leaving the line and never got a time slip.

On the 2nd run, Mike was trying to make a burnout. He show me that he can not make a burnout without using a linelock. So the tires never heated up. He claims he left the line at 5700 and just smoked the tires pass the 60ft mark. The best time for him was 8.7et@83mph 1/8mi. Sad, Sad, Sad. Not impressive at all.

On the third pass, James burns up the clutch while doing a burnout.

From what I'd seen they have been selling about how the Blue Bunny really runs. It ain't Sh$t and never gonna be Sh&t up aganist me. I think that the time slips they been telling everyone are really not the the times the car ran. So one day the truth will come out

So was it worth me bringing my car out to the track, HELL NO!!!!!!! NOT EVEN WORTH MY TIME.

Well Vincent, all of what I said above is the truth. Everything that you thought you witnessed may not be. However, if you had the ******* to actually bring your car then maybe the truth would have been more clear for you. You need to ask yourself what you saw and question what you choose to believe. That's all I have to say

Vince, why is it that whenever James is around the car seems to perform less than expected? Yet when it’s just you and I, you always seem to get your *** kicked up and down the street? When we raced after the cruise, you “beat” me by a car and a half. Yet two weeks later I beat you by a car and a half. So not only was I as fast as you I was actually much faster. Oh and squash the whole “that wasn’t a full quarter mile” deal. I lifted right at 105, which makes it just short of the real deal. Let’s see, from a dead stop to a buck O five and you and that big *** cam were still a car and a half behind me? I hate to be the one to tell you but there was no way in hell you were going to catch me. You need to understand something; James is the bankroll behind this operation. If he doesn’t want me to push the car (because your weak *** was too scared to come out and play) I’m not going to.

You should know by now bigger isn’t necessarily better. I know how frustrated you must be having invested a significant amount of time and money. Only achieve identical results. But your new cam which I can only describe as violent is just too big. Big cam, 3.45’s, and a weak transmission are what keeps us out front. And we’ll stay out front until you address these issues.

Now let’s address my 60’. You and anyone else that has ever made a pass on a sticky tire at Irwindale knows damn well that you would almost have to try and get a sub 1.9 60’. I don’t blow tires loose unless I’m asked to (hint, hint). Oh and James will verify that I never use a line lock.

Dude I feel you but what’s up with all of these false accusations. Just because we haven’t so much as changed a header gasket in the time it took you to grenade your motor twice doesn’t necessarily mean you’re guaranteed to be any faster when it all goes back together. If our combo it isn’t broken, why try to fix it?

Now surely having bore witness to the happening of last Thursday evening you would be more inclined than ever to line up right. Enough with the smoke and mirrors Vincent, its time to smack your *** like I caught you stealing candy from a liquor store. Man to man, slick to slick and heads up, now reach down and give that little bag a good tug and let’s get it on!

I used to think you were actually a serious contender well that is until Kevin took me for a ride in the Candy Cane. I’m going to take you out strictly for sport. I’ve got a much bigger fish in my cross hairs…

How much of all this are you trying to sell? You're not going to make a damn dime off of none of it. Have that Blue Bunny ready by track time on June 26, 2004 at 2pm. This is where the smack talk ends.

Are you down? Will there be more excuses or ? fellas

It's not all about the $, it's all about the bragging rights. Besides you might need your money to buy more upgrades to try to get around me. So be careful on how you spend your money.

You can play it up all you want. As I have already let you know I'll be out of town for a wedding. Truly a classless act of calling the Bunny out knowing full well I have prior commitments on that day. But I guess such can be exected of someone delibrately NOT bringing their car to the track for stupid reasons and then failling to notify us of the fact before hand, and then playing it up like you were on the way and bringing it until we saw otherwise. You saw my demands posted in another thread. read them. Re-read them And get ready for defeat.
