Air-deflector discontinued by GM?

I tried ordering the 3-pc (radiator) air-deflector set for my '89 GTA at my local dealer, but I was told that they were discontinued by GM.

Can anyone here confirm this?

I've had trouble with this particular dealer in the past telling me that certain parts were discontinued, when in fact, they were still available from GM.

Thanks.

I don't have the part number but handy, but I bought an air deflector from GMPartsDirect.com. $20 + "handling" fee. They should still have them available.

The deflector is also available on eBay from a Firebird store in Florida, but they charge $60 + shipping. I have one from there as well.

Thanks Bret!

When you get the chance, can you post the part no.?

Some of the lots in these business parks/shopping plazas have you park with the front-end over a high curb and/or sidewalk in front. That's where I usually run into trouble.LOL!

They say everything is discontinued. Try somewhere else.

Sorry, I goofed up. The eBay price is $34 + $10 shipping. I have one of these in the box at home and it's NOS GM. They show 5 available. I may pick up another so I have an additional spare.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33638

Also, I just looked up the part number at GMPartsDirect.com and it comes up as AVAILABLE:
GM PART # 12395557
CATEGORY: Radiator Air Deflector/Baffle
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $34.08
OUR PRICE: $20.11
DESCRIPTION: DEFLECTOR

It's worth noting that this revised GM design hangs lower than the original 2 piece unit that the '88 and earlier cars came with. If your car is lowered, the deflector will get beat up a bit. I recommend also buying a skid guard from Lon at TDS.

He made one for me and it has helped save the deflector when going up driveways ...etc.

Hey Bret, thanks for the part #'s!

No worries here. I'm not currently lowered nor do I ever plan to be with this car.

I beginning to think that the dealer I usually deal with is either too lazy or too inept to look up the correct part #'s for me. To make matters worse, it was the parts manager that told me the 3-pc deflector was discontinued.

The weird thing is, this guy has been working at this particular dealer for nearly 8-years. You'd think he'd know his way around the GM parts network program by now.

When I get the new deflector set, I'm seriously going to consider getting Lon's "skid-guard" protector for the middle piece. However, I wonder if he ever plans on making a skid-guard for the side pieces too? I think that'd be another great idea. I always seem to scrape those side deflectors for some reason.

I'm sure Lon could make a guard for the side pieces. He offered to make some for me, but at the time I didn't think I'd need them. Since then, I've scrubbed off around a 1/4" off the driver's side piece going in and out of driveways.
