Good OC tint shop...

Anyone know of any good auto tint shops in Orange County? Both cars need tint done really bad but the shops I looked at didn't impress me. The use of cheap tint and also overly priced tint jobs with only a few months warranty. I need the old tint stripped away and would prefer to have the darkest legal tint possible. I am going to do the GSX first so I need tint in the rear that can handle defrosters. Anyone know of a good tint shop that they can recommend?

I can't help on which shop to use, but I believe you can go as dark as you want on the back windows and rear hatch. Most tint shops will not guarantee the defogger lines when they remove old tint. Also, you can't have ANY aftermarket tint on the front windows whatsoever. Legally that is.

I haven't had any problems with the Toyota PU yet. However, the tint on my front windows is not as dark as the back ones on the shell. If you get the front ones just as dark as the back, you could have problems with traffic cops. The less noticeable the better I guess.

Yeah front windows cant be tinted which is bs. I got a ticket today by the chp because of it Anybody know how much the fine will be? Im probably just going to take it off, I cant afford the fine right now. If I take it off and then put some back on what will happen if I get caught again?

Being in Clovis It's probably not going to be cheap..

as for rear defrosters.. It is possible to remove the tint and not mess up the defroster lines.. That's if you go to someone that knows what there doing.. myself I could teach Nigel how to remove his back window with no blade.. You just have to know what your doing and the steps..

As for front windows and etc.. If you have a good tinter he can tint all the windows and make it look as the front window is not even tinted.. It's the Blend.. Like right now my Malibu is not super dark in the back window as there is a lot of area for light to come in a large door window with that lil window.. then the front's being lighter.. But If I go with the lightest color for the front window it's going to make the rear darker of course.. And possibly not be to dark for the front's to be noticed as a Dark tint in front.. They want to see a face that's most of the time there looking for.. And if you have Custom tint on the front's most of the cops like it.. But there is always that chance as it's the law..

As for tinters that come to you.. That's fine as long as you know how long they been in business as some people have a problem and they can't locate them no longer.. But there is that chance of dust and all the other problems.. So at a shop is always best..

I would prefer to go to a shop to get it done. My driveway is always filled plus the tree throws endless pollen and bird crap. As far as the front windows being tinted I will probably go with them being tinted again. Both of these cars had the side windows tinted and in the 3 years I have driven the TA I have yet to have any problems. You can see in the pics that the GSX has a lighter tint than the TA and is also in worse condition. I would prefer both cars to be as dark as the TA is now but just not in the purple hue its in now. Also it will be nice to look out a clear window instead of a blurry one. So far Branden knows of a couple shops, anyone know of any others? Also what do you think I should be paying to have the old tint removed and new tint put on the GSX?

For the best both cars your probably looking at a possible amount of 600 or less removed then considering you have 2 cars same time you might get a deal you can ask.. House of tints can most likely say they can guarantee the defrost no problem.. For the price of me not going to house of tints I only got a good material Vs Such as a Dragon on my back window good tinter and good material.. As far as saving a lil removal cost.. We can easily strip the fronts and side backs no problem.. the formula1 has a lifetime guarantee I believe..

If they can "guarantee" the defroster lines, that's excellent! The places here in the IE won't guarantee the defroster grids when removing old tint.

The black grid lines near the top edge of the hatch on a 3rd gen is another difficult area to remove old tint from. I had three layers of old tint on mine. Removed it all by myself too. Ugh!

"The Tint Connection" in Newport beach is by far the best around in OC

they do all the highend cars (Jags, Porsche, BMW,) also any car you take to them. they have a strong reputation and their prices are outstanding.. infact my mom is picking up her Cadilac CTS today from them... all 5 windows, any tint you want, 145$.

they are off the 55, just up from Nike Town.

they also dont use that cheap stuff that cracks, peels or changes color.

That is a real good price for a Cadilac.. Most of those places in NewPort have the best tint and prices.. My neighbor mentioned to me a place, this is after I just had my malibu tinted in a hurry.. That she knows a place that is in New Port and they do all FletcherJones customers cars for around that price your mentioning..

I took the tint off my car and paid the $10 fee back in '99, the first week I was driving my Z28. I dont know how much it costs if you leave it on, or if they will let you. But if you get stopped again, you will pay the full fine again. You dont get a discount for breaking the law.

I'm thinking it was around 80 bucks for the fine with not taking the tint off.
