1969 3rd gen Yenko Camaro???

I saw this one while I was driving down the street today- At first I laughed, but on further inspection the body work wasn't half bad! Not sure what it has under the hood, but it has a ticket on the windshield!

(see below... )

If the car is red, it was sold on eBay recently. I saved a few of the pictures to my hard drive.

It is red (more like a VW Mars Red - red/orange color). Sorry about the links, they were working fine for me yesterday at home but I notice that they aren't working on my work computer. I'll try to fix when I get home.

You have to give him some credit, must guys that do things like that do it half assed, but to put a front end from a car that has modern day attributes on a 60's muscle car with chrome accents is just plain wrong

Okay being the "black sheep" that I am, I will say that I actually like it. I admire the ingenuity and I kind of like the blending of the styles, now would I ever dream of doing it, NO WAY! But lets just say if that was a project to give GM a general idea of what I would like a 5th gen to look like, I would be on that bandwagon in a second. I think it looks so weird because the lines obviously do not flow like they should. I wouldn't have placed the decals on it either.

My thanks to drop-top IROC for getting the pictures in so that I could add my

Was/is it the same car? If so do you recall how much it sold for?

Yes it's the same car. I hadn't paid attention to the list price or if it actually sold or not. I'll look for the link. It was a recent auction, so the link should still be good.

Yeah, going from the boxy 3rd gen front end to the more curvy 1st gen is a little awkward, as far as the body lines flow, but looking at it up close, I was rather impressed with the craftsmanship, even if it did destroy what was a seemingly clean 1st gen.

Put 2nd gen. rear glass and round taillights on it, and drop an LS1 in it and you have a Camaro for all generations!

I am willing to bet that it was a wrecked 1st gen and with the vast availablity of 3rd gen parts at pretty much any PAP yard the onwer got creative

I don't think you would have to worry about smog, as long as that is an actual 69 chassis under the panels (which the majority of the car appears to be) then based on how you register it, it is still a 69 and therefore exempt from smog

Yep, it is a lot more orange in person... been parked in that same spot on Ximeno for about a week and a half now. Hopefully it gets moved occasionally- if it gets more than a few tickets on it, it will end up at the City tow yard on Willow.

I don't get it. Why would someone pay that kind of money for the car, have it shipped here from the East Coast, then leave it on a public street accumulating parking citations? Maybe it was stolen and dumped there?

Possibly, but it would be more like: $$$,000. Even some of the best reproduction Yenkos are commanding near 6-figure prices.
