Famoso Race Donation

Dyno Don will be providing his truck and a trailer for the trip to the Famosa race track. The truck will be carrying supplies, tires, spare parts and the trailer for anyone who breaks down. This will be quite an expense for gasoline etc. I will be donating to the cause to help offset the expenses. Hopefully others will help with the expenses.

Re: Famoso Race Donation

Remember to bring your walkie-talkies (we're still missing one), lots of water, ice, food and drinks.
I'm thinking we need to leave from Don's shop by 6:30am to make it up to the track by 9am opening. I dont know where to meet up with the L.A. people unless we call you when we're close to your on-ramp. We'll take the 5 north from OC thru LA and over the grapevine, to the 99 into Bakersfield and then the 65 to Famoso.

Let me know if you guys have a place in mind, since I'm coming from the AV, it'll be easier for me to meet up w/ you guys somewhere on the way. There is a Denny's in off the 5 in Lebec, let me know if that's a good place to meet up w/ you guys & gal.

Yea! I'll chip in too. Bring spare rear ends, Trannys(T5), coils, spark plug wires, oil, regular tires, head lights, brakes, any and all distributor parts, fuel, race fuel, screws and bolts and most of all, drivers.

I thought you were going to say screws, bolts, and nuts, but then you said drivers, and that's almost the same as nuts.

Cadillac, of course our tools and supplies are open to everyone who needs help in a pinch.

Is that the one where you're screaming down the back of the grapevine at 75+ miles per hour, downhill, dodging trucks and other assorted morons doing 65 or less? And you have to abruptly slide over into the far right lane and slam on the brakes to make the off-ramp? Isnt there also a Jack in the Box there? I think I remember that one.

If you are coming over the 138 that looks like it would be the best.

Im just waiting on some money and it's off to Kevin to do some tuning and get the Red Roc passed the sniffer. Im trying to get Gene to go so I can use his slicks and who knows maybe his fronts also. I almost thought we had one Saturday left in this month but we have 2 left so that is cool. I have a bunch of things to do to be ready. Gotta get insurance back on the car, buy a new battery, find my battery hold down or I'll snake it off the malibu. Also there is enough time to get the Dfi tuned over again, Im going to have Gene help me with that if he has time. Yeah that be pretty cool if I could come up on top. But I think Vincent will be pretty hard to beat.

I kinda figured we would have to race each other. This is going to be a lot of fun.

I'll take all you suckers on!

No, not really.

I'm sorry about that. The coordination, timing, or whatever just wasn't right for most. However, I think I will be there with a friend from Stockton and his lowly RS LS1 conversion.

Quick question about the donation for Dyno Don's equipment: What is the suggestion there? Does it depend on use/need?

Re: Famoso Race Donation

I dont think you guys will need the truck and trailer unless you break down out there. Its for us SoCal people to haul all our tools, tires, and equipment instead of in our cars.

If we leave at 6am we should make it to the Denny's at about 7:30am. And its another hour from the Denny's to the track, so we'll have to eat quick.

OC people, meet at Don's shop before 6am. LA people and late birds, meet at the Denny's at 7:30am.

So, should we invite the other gens, or no? Our numbers have dwindled down to 10 or so, and if we dont get 16 cars, then we dont get our own lane.

Looking better all the time. By the way my wife is going to go along to see what it is all about so that 20% will come in handy. I guess we will meet up on the 5/605 crossing. Maybe Lakewood Blvd.

I think you should go ahad and invite the guys off the SCFB board, although it may be a bit late for guys to make last minute plans.

I checked the weather report and its gong to be in the 90's at the track. Remember, you must wear long pants and a shirt with sleeves to race. Sweats over shorts is ok. We'll have a cooler with us so bring lots of water.

Short sleeve shirts o.k. or do they have to be long sleeve? This is my 1st time going to the track, I know that I need to bring the following:
valid license
registration
proof of Insurance
Is there anything else that I need to bring?

The weather should be in the 70's for the first race and low and mid 80's for the next races. It looks like it does not get into the 90's until late afternoon.

This track wont check those things, but Fontana does. Short sleeves is fine. Just no muscle shirts or tank-tops. You also have to have shoes or sneakers and socks, no sandals or flip-flops. You also need a helmet if you're running 13.99 or faster, which you should.

Re: Famoso Race Donation

Sounds just great coming from the chilly Bay area.

What about helmets? Are they required? Will they be available if required?

EDIT: Beat to the punch. I won't be close to 14 but Ramair21 might be all over that.

Im going to get some water and soda's and bring it to the track. Anyone going to bring a cooler? 95* is pretty hot with all the heat coming from all the motors. LOL...
