Famoso Race Donation

Famoso Race Donation
Dyno Don will be providing his truck and a trailer for the trip to the Famosa race track. The truck will be carrying supplies, tires, spare parts and the trailer for anyone who breaks down. This will be quite an expense for gasoline etc. I will be donating to the cause to help offset the expenses. Hopefully others will help with the expenses.

Re: Famoso Race Donation
Remember to bring your walkie-talkies (we're still missing one), lots of water, ice, food and drinks.
I'm thinking we need to leave from Don's shop by 6:30am to make it up to the track by 9am opening. I dont know where to meet up with the L.A. people unless we call you when we're close to your on-ramp. We'll take the 5 north from OC thru LA and over the grapevine, to the 99 into Bakersfield and then the 65 to Famoso.

Yea! I'll chip in too. Bring spare rear ends, Trannys(T5), coils, spark plug wires, oil, regular tires, head lights, brakes, any and all distributor parts, fuel, race fuel, screws and bolts and most of all, drivers.

Let me know if you guys have a place in mind, since I'm coming from the AV, it'll be easier for me to meet up w/ you guys somewhere on the way. There is a Denny's in off the 5 in Lebec, let me know if that's a good place to meet up w/ you guys & gal.

Re: Famoso Race Donation
Is that the one where you're screaming down the back of the grapevine at 75+ miles per hour, downhill, dodging trucks and other assorted morons doing 65 or less? And you have to abruptly slide over into the far right lane and slam on the brakes to make the off-ramp? Isnt there also a Jack in the Box there? I think I remember that one.

I kinda figured we would have to race each other. This is going to be a lot of fun.

Re: Famoso Race Donation
No, not really.
I'm sorry about that. The coordination, timing, or whatever just wasn't right for most. However, I think I will be there with a friend from Stockton and his lowly RS LS1 conversion.
Quick question about the donation for Dyno Don's equipment: What is the suggestion there? Does it depend on use/need?

Re: Famoso Race Donation
I dont think you guys will need the truck and trailer unless you break down out there. Its for us SoCal people to haul all our tools, tires, and equipment instead of in our cars.
If we leave at 6am we should make it to the Denny's at about 7:30am. And its another hour from the Denny's to the track, so we'll have to eat quick.
OC people, meet at Don's shop before 6am. LA people and late birds, meet at the Denny's at 7:30am.
So, should we invite the other gens, or no? Our numbers have dwindled down to 10 or so, and if we dont get 16 cars, then we dont get our own lane.

Too much family stuff.
We managed to go to Palmdale a few weeks ago, but Bakersfield is just too time consuming right now.

Re: Famoso Race Donation
This track wont check those things, but Fontana does. Short sleeves is fine. Just no muscle shirts or tank-tops. You also have to have shoes or sneakers and socks, no sandals or flip-flops. You also need a helmet if you're running 13.99 or faster, which you should.

Re: Famoso Race Donation
Sounds just great coming from the chilly Bay area.
What about helmets? Are they required? Will they be available if required?
EDIT: Beat to the punch. I won't be close to 14 but Ramair21 might be all over that.

I was planing on wearing a tank top because my car does not have A/C . I am going to take a helmet for sure. Im going to need it i hope. Hoping to hit 13.6. Im going to get some water and soda's and bring it to the track. Anyone going to bring a cooler? 95* is pretty hot with all the heat coming from all the motors. LOL...
