Lon and I have done this event twice — Special parking, parade lap around the track, reserve seats in the stands. Even have some in-car photos from the parade lap. |

The food is not all that expensive (still some expensive), considering you dont pay for anything else. The food is good overall.
Would be good to see some fellow thirdgenners out next time. |

Here’s a link with the meet/carshow details that Chuck started for the last two Saturdays, it will be the same deal next time. | I do not think I have ever met you in person Jon. I saw the two 4th gens but did not realise I might know you guys. I just hit up the guy in the red third gen if he visited this site (Thirdgen.org) and he mentioned he did but was newer here.
Anyways, My NASCAR Supertruck (I am crewcheif for Mason Britton #18) is not racing that weekend of May10th, but I was talking to the guys of the Vette club about my pops and I bringing out my ol 68 Corvette racecar and I now also have a C6 Z06 replica truck I built (My version of an "eddie bauer", "Harley Davidson", "Lightning", such and such truck.- I call it my "Vetruck") I am not quite finished with it but it is up and running and 95% done. I am building the Z06 6piston 14" brake package for it next under the hyperdark 18" front Vette rims.
I'll check with Chuck's link on Corvetteforums. I talked to them at the April 12th event about coming out and he told me to reference the link. I pretty much can just get my truck into there without you guys since I have the appropriate contacts at the track. I have credentials to just sneak it through the pit entrance and right up in line with you guys. My father would have to bring the Vette though and be organized with you guys since I can not sneak a Corvette into the NASCAR pits as a support vehicle.
I do not realy technically have possession of a third gen camaro anymore (for the meanwhile- Lets just say sh*t happens in life) |

I always enjoy your posts on suspension & brake info, and how you never take crap from the young know-it-alls were always fun to read, I just can't keep up with the name changes!
Hope you get the truck up to speed soon, I'll keep an eye out for you next time I'm out at the track. |

| Re: Pics from Irwindale The Camaro is gone. Wife is gone. Dean is happy. If she is not stupid, she will give it to my daughter and not sell it for peanuts. She is not to sell anything until the divorce is final (Restraining order placed on all assets- I have that entire car documented ) She went off the deep end with serious medical issues- I will leave it at that. I just know I am home alone and dating again- Life is good. You can not help someone that will not help themself. I got sick of trying.
Anyways, there will be other cars. I am actually debating putting a twin turbo 3.4l Camaro V6 into my Mini Cooper. Anyone remember that Datsun 510 with the twin turbo 2.8 V6 camaro engine? It was a rocketship under boost. NA they suck, but boost them and hold on. That little restriction in the velocity of the runner is solved under boost.
The race track- We are currently 7th overall out of 28 in the Supertruck series with my debute as Crewcheif calling all the shots. I in all honestly am still figuring this crap out and when I get it dialed after enough data acquisition then look out. I had that truck .178 off the pole last week and the kid got a bunk quilifying run getting himself jammed in traffic. We are there and will be podiuming very soon. Come check him out- Mason Britton #18. (he is to my left in the picture- the young one- He is a 10 time IKF go kart champion and is now only 19. This kid is going places and I have latched onto his coattails for the ride. We have a pretty good sponsor with "Roy And Dots" Towing and body shop Repair out of Fontana.
also- I now own my own lathe and milling machines

So when's the fabrication party at your place Dean?
In all seriousness, I might want to chat with you. I've been wanting to do some custom aluminum center caps for my GTA wheels so I can securely mount my spinners again.
Using the factory style plastic caps didn't work out. I ended up pitching a center cap driving down the road one day. Too much weight for the factory spring clips to hold. One good bump and it was gone.
Anyway, I've had a new set of spinners and also had Lon powdercoat them black. Just need better center caps to attach them.

| Re: Pics from Irwindale Hey Bret,
You are welcome anytime to come on over and help me figure this thing out. I just acquired them and really have not even had time yet to set them up and see what kind of bits and such I have. I do know that this machine does not have the provisions to do alogorythems (sp?- you know, circles) but I have seen a guy at Veterans stadium with two base mounts that each will work for non CNC mills like I have. He had a used one for $300 that I am going to try and pickup at the next event. I have been so busy in life (good thing) that even my truck project has taken a back seat. I am going to try and get my digital dash in next week and finish a few other points on it so it is ready for Chucks event on May 10th at Irwindale. Any of you going? My father and I will be there with the Vette and truck. He went up to the track to watch our team race for the first time last week and expressed interest in getting the Vette back out- we hardly ever go anywhere with it anymore. He enjoys displaying it and driving it in little cruises like this- he leaves the Corvette racing to me, that car is a handful. I even get worried about him driving it on the street anymore it is such a monster to steer and pedal.

The Corvette adapters don't fit the GTA wheels. I bought them as a test and had to send them back. So, I either need to make my own -OR- search hi-and-lo and see if any company carries them in different sizes. |

| Re: Pics from Irwindale Bret, I am very familiar with those. I know I have a set laying around somwhere in a box at the family storage garage off of one of our Vettes. e have 3 vintage vettes in the family. The backings we have fit the old 5 star center mount American racing wheels and would not work either.
The ones you show look closer to your needs- so a question: Do Did you happen to take the I.D and the O.D demensions off the Ecler ones linked to see if they have enough meat and could just be turned down to the center I.D of your GTA wheels? If so, you can come on over and use the lathe. I will have it up and running before June. I am about 5-8 mins east of Don's shop east of the 55 in Orange (Near El Modena HS)

Dean Sakeed123@aol.com | Dean,
IIRC those adapters were too small when I tried them. The opening in the GTA wheels is bigger than the C3 Vette wheels from what I recall. |

Originally Posted by Vetruck The wheel adapter "thingies" I have are face mounting to the wheel. They flange over quite large. I also drilled a hole for the stud to go thru. I then put a large washer inside the cap and use a lock nut to secure the spinner.
It worked pretty well, but the factory spring clips don't always hold that tight with the weight of the spinner on the end. That's how I lost one and had to buy a new set.
The Eckler's adapters are aluminum cones with a flanged lip on one end. Part of the cone slips inside the center opening the wheel and the flange sits flush against the wheel. Just like our plastic center caps. You then use set screws to secure the adapter to the wheel.
The other end of their adapters are threaded and the spinners literally "spin" on to the adapter. Again, you use use set screws to secure them.
I'm using spinners with a stud that sticks out the back.
IIRC, the opening in my GTA wheels is around 3". Eckler's has two adapters — one for a 2.25" opening and one for a 3.25" opening. Close, but not close enough.

If you look close at the Eckler's parts, they are actually aluminum cones not all that different from the factory Firebird caps.
I could just go back to using the plastic caps I have and maybe explore your idea to secure them better.
