I have Don's 1 3/4 hi rise headers jet coated with his Y into a dual 3" mandrel cat back with a cross flow master. I recently have both sides of the headers leaking and my tube to the dual cats are leaking. With Don's headers on the passenger side front tube 2nd bolt back is real tight and it is a shorter 12 point, and I don't have any tool that will tighten it. So Im having a good friend bring some tools. I hope the gaskets are ok, I had the best put in. Also with leaks like this you can fail smog. I didnt pass smog the last time I had the car on the road, then everything was sealed. How ever if any one knows that ball under the front fender well that round plastic ball that a hose goes there. What that is and does it have anything to do with smog. I found it with the hose off. So I ordered a set of Arp's that Don suggest on the thread arp header bolts. I also have all the bracing that goes to the front header so Im surprised that the pass side had a leak on that front tube.

The Ball your referring to is a vacuum reservoir, at least that's what I've been told.

Yeah I would have figured you would have noticed some driving issues with that hose off?

No that's the thing. I was running rich at the time but not rich all the time. Im going to have to track where this all goes, it probably goes to the map bar also. My Co levels is what I didnt pass, I think it's unburned fuel.

That hose Tee's off from the cruise control and tee's off near the plenum. So im still unsure what it all does. Tonight I got new header bolts in and everything sealed up there. The map has it's own hose that goes to the plenum.

When the hose to the vacuum ball on my car collapsed, there wasn't enough vacuum to work the vents on HVAC correctly. At idle, the air went to the defrost vents and back to the air vents when I was moving again.

Hmm So it goes to the vents systems also. well that's nothing smog related. Im just being sure because I have to replace dual cats.

Yes, it the vacuum reserve system for the cruse control, heater/ac/vents, etc. It stores the extra vacuum needed to work those devices.

Hope the new bolts solves the exhaust leak issue and allows you to pass.

Yeah no kiding, I would think this car should be real clean like the first smog was when we first completed the engine.

yeah with the exhaust leak and how everything was sounding, sure sounded like a classic lol.
