Cost of repairing steering column wiggling?

I have to take my car to a dealer, as I don't have the expertise / experience necessary to do this myself.

I tried fixing it myself over the weekend, but I think I did more harm than good, but at least I only got as far as the lock plate, then I was at a standstill.

For those that got their steering columns tightened at a dealer, how much did you pay?

It only takes a little more than an hours worth of labor to fix a loose steering column. So at a dealer expect to pay around $70.

OMG are you serious?

Sears was saying that a dealership was going to charge me around $200.00.

Mine cost $30 to fix, and thats including a $10 tip. Go to a local mechanic to get it fixed....much cheaper. Try to find one that is reputable, but cheap. I got lucky and found one about 5 years ago, and have brought many vehicles there to get fixed for pretty much nothing. He does great work too.

I was quoted $200 by my local Chevy dealer. I went home and learned how to do it.
