Static/dynamic wheel balancing?
I got a new set of tires fitted today and I'm getting vibration at 70+ mph. I had the wheels statically balanced as I hate those clip on weights. After the guy at the shop balanced one wheel I asked him to do a dynamic balance out of curiosity and the machine said it needed 20 grammes.
I'm thinking maybe I should get them dynamically balanced. And if so can he use clip on weights on the inside lip and stick on weights inside the rim as close to the outside as possible?
Anyone got any experience of static balancing not being adequate and dynamic balancing curing the vibes?
Cheers

Static balance in woefully inadequate for performance use. it only balances the wheel/tire in one dimension. It is possible to use the "sticky" weights on the outermost edge of the wheel, but, you may find that the "correct" weight is not exactly what the machine will call for. (prolly a little heavier.....)
Give it a shot, see what happens.

I got the wheels dynamically balanced today and have noticed a big improvement. The guy used plastic covered clip on weights and they dont look too bad. Although one wheel has a big 40 gram weight on the outside.
There is still some imbalance but my wheels are old and maybe not as straight as they used to be.
Thanks
