new brakes smoking and pulling
I had a warped rotor, so last night I put a new one on and changed the pads on that side. I then took the car out for a quick drive. when I got home I noticed the brakes on that side were smoking a bit. I wiped the oil off of the new rotor, but is it possable there was some absorbed by the metal and it was burning out?
also when braking that side pulls a little. depending on how hard I brake determins on how hard it pulls. is that because I havent serviced the other side yet? the break pedal isnt soft, it feels alot firmer than b4.
Im gona go this afternoon and get the rotor for the other side turned, and get the new pads on that side. should that take care of the pulling?

Did you change the flexible brake hoses going to the calipers? They can collapse and cause a brake to stick on like that.

the smoking is probably the protectant they put on the rotor while in storage/shipping.. use brake parts cleaner to clean it off, or just drive around for a few minutes and it'll wear off (and smoke some) ... did you bleed the brakes? I would probably bleed both sides if you're getting pulling like that.

you said you had a warped rotor and changed it and the pads on the one side, it might be pulling because theres new brakes on one side and old on the other, id do the other side soon or else it will pull later down the road cause ones worn more than the other.

Ok brakes on both sides are done I got the new pads on the other side and had the rotor turned.
every thing seems fine now. I can let go of the steering wheel and slam on the breaks even make them lock and the car will still go straight.
new ?? thoe. just how hot should breaks get? I hopeing its normal or from where I realy put them threw a few real hard work outs, but when I got finished testing them I rinced my wheels off with a water hose and they both sizzled a little bit.
is that normal? or just because I worked em hard just b4?
I realy hope its not a new problem because my breaks feel right finaly!
O' BTW my rotor was warped because of how long the steering components were bad on that side, not because of my caliper being stuck.
