Spohn Wonderbar Question
I'm looking at a spohn wonderbar. For $60 it seems like a pretty good deal for a good chassis upgrade. but i have a WS6 91' Formula. is it still worth it even though the suspension is already pretty good stock? also how hard of and install is it? can't be too difficult i assume. thanks again.

I had problems with one of the bolt holes not lining up. A little "fab work" later I had it in. it is a really easy install if the bolt holes line up. I have a lot of spohn stuff and have never had fitment issues till now. Anyway, it was no big deal and i had it on the car in 15 minutes after the car was in the air. It is a worthwhile mod to brace your steering box and firm things up.

The WS6 came with a wonderbar, but if you've ever taken a look at it, it's kinda flimsy looking. The Spohn bar is definitely beefier and will tighten things up a little better up front, but you won't notice a big improvement unless you're seriously cutting some fast corners.
I got mine from Spohn because my car didn't have one at all. I'd probably save the money for another mod if I already had one. Then again, you could always regain some money by selling your stock one.

I installed a TDS wonderbar last weeked. The hardest part was breaking the old bolts loose. No fitment problems. I think it costs $50 and it has three mounting holes per side whereas the Spohn one has two. I have a 91 Fromula WS6 and it did not have a stock wonderbar. I thought they only came stock on IROCs

Yea i would defintaly get it. I have a 91 Z28 and i broke the weld right there at the stearing box. Took it to a frame shop and said he sees 3rd gen's coming in all the time for this problem. I got it rewelded and put on the spohn adjustiable wonderbar and wow hell of a difference(stiffened up the stearing a little and better feel into the corners). Not to hard to install but with my duel fans i have, steve told me i had to to get a sander and grrind down the shrods a little on the fans. Not overly difficult tho.

I noticed the wonderbar stiffened stuff up quite a bit. I think it was worth the cash.

I take it everyone that has the Spohn Wonderbar likes it. I am going to probably get one sometime in the near future...not sure how near though. I am in the process of trying to complete suspension projects a little at a time, starting with my frontend rebuild which I have near completion.

thanks for the info guys. i've decided that is gonna be my first summer mod. which do you suggust, the TDS or the Spohn? i don't know much about the TDS Wonderbar but i have heard a lot of good things about the Spohn. and if i have to grind down the fan shroud, big deal...grinders are fun. also, anyone find these one ebay? otherwise i'll just get'em from spohn to be safe.

i have heard in the past that spohn's does'nt line up correctly on some cars. i have heard the tds one is perfect and 10 bucks cheaper. sometimes 20 if you get in on the group purchase.

The TDS WonderBar fit perfectly on my 91 Formula with the dual fans, no problem. Put it and Lon's greasable front bar bushings on in about 20 minutes time, and I'm no speed demon.

Im thinking about getting the adjustable one from spohn. being adjustable, it will help w/ some mounting probs had with a fixed length bar, and you can preload the front subframe too.
