noise driving me crazy

Ok, here´s the situation: I have new front pads with 1000 miles on, front discs in good condition, rear pads still good (around 1/3 of an inch thick) rear dics in very good condition.
Here´s the problem: When the car is cold, everything is great, but after a few miles, if I go at 5 mph, I hear this noise on the rear (I think) that sounds like some metal part was scratching against another, but not continuously, I hear it like once every second, If I go faster like at 20 mph I hear it faster. but going at 40-50 noise goes away. If going slowly, I step on the brakes gently, the noise becomes like if the pads needed to be replaced, I mean the noise becomes stronger and louder. But if I step on the brake pedal harder, the noise does not appear until I lift my foot a little bit and therefore I´m just touching the brakes. I´ve taken the rear brakes appart and everything is normal, nothing seems to be worn out, nothing but the pads is toching the discs, and the pad´s clips ar still far from the discs.
One key fact: When raining noise does not appear.
Now, I´ve taken the car to pep boys to have a second oppinion, and they said that everything is in perfect condition, but the rear pads seem to be dry, so he told me that he could wet the pads with some liquid that is applied to the disc. After doing this, the noise seemed to be not so loud, but is still there.
The guy from pep boys told me that new rear pads might not solve the problem. And I´m not changing discs because they are in perfect condition.
What do you guys think??!!
What should I do?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would first check the run out on the rotors and make sure their not warped. If they are good you can get shims that go behind the pads that quiet down operation noise. It sounds like you have a warped rotor. Hard to find though, I use a pencil that I set on a bucket and hold the tip against the rotor while turning it.
even the slightest warpage will cause the pad to move back and forth in the caliper causing a clicking noise more noticable when your foot is not on the brake.

I´ll try that, but I doubt the problem is on the rotors, because they are in pretty good condition since I bought them new last year. I´ll post whatever happens. Thanks for posting!

Even if their not warped you can still put the shims behind the pads. My ceramic's came with them and they stick on the back.
I wasn't sure why they needed to go on there, so I went to the
www.rabestos.com web site and found they are for quiet, smoother operation. Good luck!

I checked the pads and yes, they have a thin layer of some white material on the back. I did an experiment, I put some grease on the disc and the noise disappeared for a few hours of easy driving, but then after a few hard stops, the noise was there again.
I have a question to ask:
If I put on new discs and new pads, should I hear any noises?
I mean, with everything new, should I hear anything at all?
I´m really sick of this noise, and I´ve spent too much time eating up my brain on this. So I´m willing to mount everything new if it goes away...

Grease on the disk??? What kind of grease?

I hope it was some kind of brake quite product and not actual grease

Yes, it was actual real hi-temp grease. Iknow it´s crazy, but I just wanted to know if the problem was a disc-pad friction problem, well, now I know it is. The front ones where still working good, so I wasn´t worried about the brakes not working b/c of the grease, besides I was just going 30 mph on my subdivision where I live.
Afterwards, I cleaned the disc and pads really well with an anti-grease cleaning fluid, so now the rear brakes work just as before, but the noise is still there...
Any sugestions about the new discs and pads idea??

Do you have a 9 or 10 bolt rear in the car?

And, no matter how much you try to clean the grease from the pads, they will always have grease in them and it will ozze out when the pads get hot.

I´m not sure about the axle right now, and I´m not close to my car, so I can´t tell, but what I can tell for sure is that I have the 3.27 gear borg-warner axle.
About the grease, well, I have to do something, either get everything (discs and pads) new, or somehting else.
But I´m actully glad I did the grease deal, at least I can tell for sure that the problem is on the discs and pads, not somewhere else. Someone told me that it might be a bearing, now I can tell it´s not a bearing.
I know I shouldn´t have done the grease experiment, but I´m not going to keep these discs or pads, so... I had nothing to loose.
