tire choices....
I want to go with a 275/50r15 Hoosier DOT tire. Mounted on an 8" Corvette Ralley.
Anyone runnin these?
My other choices are BFG Drag Radials, or the Nitto Drag Radials.
Any comments/ideas?
Are there any others out there I should consider?
This will be a "nice day to work/track/weekend warrior" car!!
Thanks

"R" coumpound Hoosier competion tires will wear out within 1 week of mormal street driving in mild to hot temperatures outside.
They are designed with two different compounds: one for autocross, one for roadracing (A little harder compound with more steel belts so they don't heat up as quickly). Neither will last on the street. They are for limited track mileage wear only. The DOT is for racing classes that require a DOT tread pattern restriction.

Dean,
I think he is talking about Drag tires, to R or A compound competition tires.
And i do beleive your explanation has R and A backwards, A compoud should head up faster (small course ) R compounds are a little harder, and heat up slowler (long course).

On the second note I listed roadrace tires(A little harder compound.....) That wasn't "A little"- as in "A" coumpound-roadrace versions are "R" compounds

Yep, talkin 'bout the Quick Time DOT tires.
I've heard Nitto's are a longer tread life tire than the BFG's.
Anyone?
