Alston SFC install help needed
I just wanted to see if anyone could offer any tips for installing the Alston SFC's. I have the bolt on type. I have the drivers side up but have not bolted them down. I still need to drill the holes. They are very close to the fuel or brake lines. Did you guys have any problems getting the welded? I had to modify the front frame on the drivers side with a hammer to get it to slide up far enough to be able to drill a hole in the frame. How did you guys get the holes drilled on the passenger side? Did you have to drop the exhaust? It doesn't look like I have any clearance problems. What size bolts did you guys use to attach them? Thanks in advance.

Read this thread COMPLETELY and it should answer all your questions. I welded mine in but did have a bit of fab work to do to get them to fit.
Also, you should have got bolts with them to install them...

I bought mine from someone here on TGO and they didn't send the bolts. I went to Home Depot today and got some. That thread was a little discouraging. It sounds like this is going to be a bigger PITA than I expected. I didn't see where anyone had to drop their exhaust to drill the back 2 holes on the passenger side though. I'll take another look at it and see what I can do.

I had to drop the exhaust to get the passenger side in. I think the hardware was 3/8 fine thread, but the size is what matters, not the thread. I think the fronts are longer but I can't remember the length.

Yeah I got 3 1/2" bolts but then found out that I need about a 4" for the drivers front. I have the passenger back and one of the drivers back completed. Trying to drill the holes for the ones on the drivers back is a little difficult because you have to hold the gas line up out of the way. That sucks about dropping the exhaust to get to the passenger front but I can't find any way around it. I guess it would have to be dropped for it to be welded on anyway though.

Alston (and other distributors to my knowledge) sell them with the installation hardwre. I made the installation kit an option earlier this year. I know some people were simply welding them in and just tossing the bolts, nuts and washers into their big bucket 'o bolts. I'm surprised that so many still order the kit, but it is entirely their option to do so (if they ordered it from me).

Thanks for clearing that up, Lon. I'm happy with mine so far, really quieted the car down.

Glad someone posted this, thanks Ed for digging up that search post! I plan to buy those Alston's soon (after I finish with https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=250400 ), now I've got a heads-up for what I might be in for.
Actually, maybe I should buy those SFC's first, and use them to help me make measurements. Hmmmm....

Well, I finally got them installed. I just need to get them welded. I wasn't able to get one of the bolts in the front passenger side connector but I am having them welded tomorrow so I don't think it will matter too much I hope. Anyway, the difference with them in was a nice surprise. There were a lot less rattles.
