Hi have a 1991 Z28 with 4 wheel disc all around. i want to get the 2000 Corvette wheels for my car. I was wondering if this is true. On Fbody motorsports they have Billet wheel adapters. They say all you have to do is put on the wheel adapters and then the Vette rims bolt up and thats it no other modifications.. Is this true? Anyone had luck with these same adapters im talking about? thats totally true, but i dont like adaptors, they look crappy with them on , if you look down at the wheel you can see the thick 2 inch piece of metal that spaces the rims out .

It's rarely noticeable unless the center of the wheel is pretty small. Which may be the case with those rims. Unless you're looking for it most people wouldn't notice.

are you kidding... on those wheels everyone will notice. it looks like hell when there is a 2" gap and your brakes are recessed in your wheel wells.

the only way you could see my brakes were if you sat at this angle.. it worked and if that doesn't bother you you can get some nice looking wheels and your adapters for cheaper then custom built 2/3 piece wheels though.

i beleive detroit wheel makes those wheels with the correct backspacing to bolt right on a third gen.

well if its not a show car, i wouldnt worry about it... i personally love those wheels on a thirdgen, but its best if your running a good brake setup.

detroit has a very low build tolerance on their wheels... unless cheap or free i'd look elsewhere.

show car or not you are buying a set of wheels for looks... what's the point in wasting money on a good set of brakes that look good too when you can't see them? for just a little more you can get a wheel that bolts right on the car and looks better.

I actually never thought of this when I decided to go 4th gen wheels. You really can't tell on the salad shooters I have right now for the winter, but I haven't mounted my 10-spoke SS rims up yet. Oh well, its not a big deal to me really. My car doesn't look that good from up close anyways, but at a distance, it looks pretty good, and with the 10spokes it'll look even better

well, rims need to look good but the main reason i would buy rims is the fact that they are larger and wider which will increase handling and traction. they also may be lighter than my Irocz rims now too. an extra bonus

thats the way i roll, performance and looking good at the same time. brakes can be seen on most any rim. i can see my stock brakes on my Iroc rims LOL i dont understand how you wouldnt be able to see them. spacers just move the wheel out, not covering up the brakes. brakes are a functional item and i dont care if you cant see them. i mean it be really nice to show them off, but oh well. no one notices brakes when i am drag racing at the track or rolling on the freeway.
but those C5 rims will show most all of the brake, and would indeed look best with a nice brake setup.

I have used the wheel spacers before when i had my zr1's on. Mine were handmade custom billet ones and i didnt like them at all i could feel the wheels wiggle sometimes from the flex. But i admit when u looked u couldnt tell they were there unless u eyeballed them. Also if u ever plan to go to a dragstrip and they noticed u have the spacer they wil not let u on the track. Since its a safety risk.

even the bolt on ones with extra stud spots?? the ones that skulte sells? those are pretty safe looking to me.

The ones i had were bolt on u put the spacer on bolt it to the rotor and the drum then u bolt the wheels to the spacer. It puts a lot of stress on the spacer's that are 2 inches thick and they flex a lil. Some people might not notice it but im really **** about how my car is acting. Now thats not saying that they probably would have been fine for years with no problems but it just didnt make me feel comfortable.

buy the ones slp sells that are made to fit a thirdgen thats the way i would go.

I currently haven't upgraded my brake setup to have discs all around, but since I need new tires now I thought about going ahead and upgrading the wheels while I was at it. The only thing I'm wondering about would be the way drum brakes would look through my new choice for wheels, which would be 2000 Corvette wheels with the obvious 2" spacers.
