Any suggestions on a good looking set of wheels (17x9) for my 89 TA. It is solid black with the ram air hood and lowered. I also would like to know the correct bolt pattern, back spacing and offset.

get a set of front rims off of a 00 or newer vette...correct bolt pattern....however a set of 2" spacers are required due to the offset. I have a set of 98' Vette rims...they are the wide 5 spoke (17's in front, 18's in the back), running a 1.5" spacer in front...but rims and tires sit to far in the fender well for my tastes! The 00' and newer are narrow spokes, but keep the same dimensions....or you can fit the 18's front and rear too. The 275/35-18 fits the rear nicely (with the 2" spacer) and I am sure you could squeeze the same up front...maybe with a 2.25" spacer so you don't hit the inner fender. Have fun with it!

I have 17x9 chrome 10-spoke SS wheels on my 'Bird. Not too many thirdgens that have them but IMO they look great and they handle great with 275 series tires.

They are the perfect fit coming out of the fender wells...they stick out just enough to fill in the fender flare.

I used 2" spacers up front and I didn't use any in the rear since I have a 4th-gen rear end.

Nice look there Jungle! The SS rims do look nice too! I just wish my Vette rims fit as nice with my 4th gen rear. I had to space out the wheel a little to keep it from rubbing on the inside fender!

i don;t like spacers, although they can work fine all the checking and retourquing sucks. i went with boyd codding rimes since they custom make the offset you want you get it 100% bolt on.

i have 17 x 8 front and 17x10 rears

both are 4 - 3/4 inch bolt pattern

rear spacing was 5.75 and front i forget what it was but a search will bring that up for ya.

I have a set of vette wheels off of my 98 Corvette. They are the gray wide spoke factory wheels. I took them off my vette and put the chrome ones on because I didn't like the way they looked. So I really don't want to put them on the TA either. I may look for some chrome vette wheels however. Now I know what I need to make them fit.

How much did you space them? I'm having the same problem. I pounded the inner fender wells to minimize it so it doesn't make any rubbing at all when driving normal, but when making quick sharp turns it rubs and is annoying as hell. I think my solid aluminum PHB will fix that a bit, but I'm also trying to get a set of the 1/4" wheel spacers that came on some of the drum rear cars to fix it as well. My fronts fit perfect with a 2" front spacer and even better once I got the C4HD brakes on.

Right now I am working with 1.25 spacer in the rear, but it could be better. They stick out a little to far right now =( As for the 1/4", you can get those through any tire dealer, and I know Jegs has them listed in there catalog too. They run about $10 for a pair.

Hey jdaniel, how much would you part with the rims for? My S-10 or my Camaro could use a set too!

1.25...those tires have to be sticking out of the fender quite a bit. There's no way I'll space these out more than 3/8" on each side. If I have to do more than that, I'll just beat the hell out of the fender some more.

I've seen picks of 85-90 TAs with Roh ZS wheels and they look awesome. Ronal Firehawks are also a good look.

Actually they only stick out past the fender lip in the rear by about a 1/2 inch. So it is not to bad...the only thing I worry about is tire contact with the fender lip. When I got the vette rims the rears had a 245/50-18 on them...and those would rub during hard cornering, and on big bumps.

Yes the Roh wheels do look great on the 3rd gens too! I forgot where I saw them for sale in the past.

I believe Group A has Roh ZS's for sale in third gen offsets as well but the wheels come with some stupid decal that belongs on some Fast and Furious wannabe Civic or something. If you come across that ad just picture the wheels after that decal has been removed.

I know there was an ad for Group A Wheels in my last copy of GM High Tech Performance and they have a web site I'm pretty sure. If you follow the link to the Skulte site in this thread you can see the Roh ZS wheels on a few different third gens.

The Zs isn't available anymore other than the racing special edition that I know of. I haven't been able to find any anyway. I'm looking for the 17x9.5" for the rears. You can still find the 8 or 8.5". The ones with the stickers wouldn't be so bad but they clearcoat over the stickers so I would think it's near impossible to get the stickers off. I love the wheel. I wish I could find a set.

I called them today and they don't have the regular ZS wheel in 9.5". Only the racing version. They did say I could get a set of synpers 17x9 delivered with lugs nuts and valve stems for $845.00. They look good too.

I've emailed them about a set of 17x7.5 and 17x9 Vapors. My car is solid black with gray interior. These look like a gun metal gray.

Don't get a 7.5" wide rim. You wanna be stuck running 225-235s up front? Go with a 9 or 9.5" rear width with an 8 or 8.5" front width. That'll let you mount a nice 245/45R17 tire up front and a 275/40R17 in the back. Both are stock height and both would work perfect.

Sizes skip from 7 1/2 to 9. I guess I could go with 17x9 fronts and rear OR 17x9 front and 18x9 1/2 on the rear???Would that work and what size tire would I need then. It's lowered with the Eibach springs.
