building a structure
what is the best way to structure up a 88 iroc convt. for about 500 horse?

your fighting a losing battle, but if you insist... if you didnt ever put the top down you could put in a cage, but thats probably out of the question. Get the beefiest weld in subframe connectors that you can find. Then have a race fab shop add to them as much as possible, lol. most good strong subframe connectors will restrict exhaust options resulting in crappy ground clearance. My buddy cracked a windshield in his T-top car from twisting. He had very good traction with less HP than your talking about.

Get some good size box steel tubing and find a chassis/race car shop that knows what they’re doing, have them use the box stock to tie the subframes together thorugh the floor, welding the floor to them the whole length. Add a decent roll bar, some seam welding… and it will live fine.
