Im looking at buying some centerline telstars. Im getting 15 x 10's for the back. What size tire would be great for that wheel?

I would say 275/50-15 or maybe a 295/50-15 But that one would be FAT

You are getting into a rim and tire size that requires some pre-planning before buying. Have you measured clearances to make sure the 15x10 will fit? What backspacing are you getting? Watch the inside diameter of the rim and where it will touch objects. My guess is that you will need an 18 inch wheel with 6 inch backspacing to really fit a 10 inch wide rim without the tire sticking out from the sides of the car.

Go to the website of the tire manufacturer and you will find charts showing overall sizes of their tires when mounted on specific rims. If you use a wider rim then the tire will shrink in diameter but grow in width. A narrow rim will cause it to shrink in width but grow in diameter. There are some rules of thumb but I can't remember them any more.

As a beginning reference point, a 17x9 inch rim with 5 inch backspacing will place the tire (in rear of car) nearly flush with the outside lip of the fender with a 275/40-R17 tire. Your wheel and tires will be wider and will all have to go in towards the center of the car to avoid sticking out from the side. This will increase your backspacing to at least 6 inches. Now measure in and see if your tires will fit.

It's going to stick out from the side of the car. I would encourage you to consider a different wheel size. 275/40-R17 tires are more common and cost less because they are used on many C4 Corvettes. You have more options in tire types and the car will handle better. They fit great on 17x9 wheels. If you want the stuffed tire look then try a 17x11 with 315/35-R17 tires like those form the ZR-1 Vette.

Definitely look at the tire charts for overall sizes. You will be suprised at the size of some tires. For instance, on my '68 El Camino I ran 16x9 wheels with 295/50-R16 tires. Low profile tire? Hardly. They were 28 inches tall and would look rediculous on a 3rd gen.

If they are for drag only then use 15x8 rims with a large sidewall for good flex and traction.

Car: 87 Berlinetta,work in progress

I have those exact wheels on the back of my car.The 15x10 w/ 5.5" backspacing will tuck into the wheelwells at the top,but stick out at the lower portion(front and rear of the wheelwells).A 295/50 fits very well, with no modifications.
