Who has the wieght for just the front end of a 91 Z-28 coupe

Hey all,
Ive been trying to get my suspension installed and am having some really bad issues. It looks like i am going to have to install the whole set up again for a third time. I got the lake wood 30/70 front drag shocks all new bushings and the moroso trick drag coils only the problem is i got the ones designed for the small block (up to 1750 lbs on the front two wheels) and the entire car is sitting on the bump stops at all times.

Am i supposed to remove the bump stops with this set up or am i doing something wrong? What could be causing this problem?

So the wieght?

My advice is try to find a scale locally in your town. Possibly a recycling center. There are to many variables, like A/C, no A/C, intake manifolds, cylinder heads, headers, compared to the OEM manifolds, steel parts vs. aluminum parts. All this stuff does add up. IMO, it would be better than guessing. HTH.

Ya i just went to the local dump(small town) and said hey can i see what my cars weight its? the answer was to get in line. It was a bit interesting getting in line with bigrigs and such. felt like an ant, hell half of the trucks had tires taller than my cars roof.

mine was 3527lbs total 2006lbs front 1521 lbs rear......that was with me and a 1/2 tank

Oh and my car is just a V6 but it weighed in at 3406 with me in it. take me out and it was right at 3100+-6. I didnt want to hold up the line so i just weighed my self when i gots home.

I run V6 front springs and my front axle weight is only 1851. Total car weight, race ready, is 3085 so it's still a little nose heavy. If I could shave 200-300 more pounds off the car, I'd like to take it all off the front somehow.

all your help is really making some sense for me, thanks.

I found a place i should be able to go and wiegh the car monday. Hopfully once i have an actuall wieght for that i can figure out exactly which springs i really need. IM so exited to have all this done.

My stock 91 z28 with t5 weighs 3464 wet with spare tire, dirt, crap inside etc.

WOW! I'm impressed. And I though my 60/40 weight ratio was abnormally heavy on the nose. With 1851 on the nose and 1234 on the rear, I thought my rear weight was far lighter than stock because I don't have a rear fuel tank or the factory rear glass/deck lid.

After looking at that chart, I can see my weight, or at least the weight ratio, is very close to many factory cars however my weight is also a race weight. Driver, fuel etc.

I'm also running an aluminum head BBC and a 12 point cage. Just goes to show how much I have stripped from the car.

Hey blyth18md that link was a great help, im suprized that didnt come up with any of my searches. Im still going to go wiegh the car tomorrow morning to make sure but im pretty sure now the front end is near 1900 lbs which means i definitly nead the higher tension springs, which i suspected i needed.

dont think anyone is still looking at this but the car weighed in at exactly 2000 front and about 1420 rear, man the car is really heavy.

WHat could i easily do to lower weight ive been trying to figure out how i can get around emmissions so i can take all that stuff off, but i dont know how registering your car as a show car or something works, and i concidered ac but right now i drive the car a lot in the summer so it may not be that great of an idea.
not sure exactly what to do????

Well with that weight there are no drag springs for my car, so i plan on just sticking with stock ones i guess, unless someone has another suggestion of what i should do.

PS, does anyone know how much the front sway bar and all the hardware for it weigh, i plan to take it off next time i go to the track, just curious, also how much does it really help your quarter taking off the front sway bar?

What ever the sway bar weighs, it weighs. The thing is, it will allow your front end to rise more easily, helping weight transfer a bit, with it off. The savings in weight, is an added bonus. Lets the front end loosen up a bit.
