i live in a country side where I just cant seem to find
a shop who'd weld my SFC in for me.

finally I found one and they told me it's approximately 600bux to
get them welded in, I acted like thats a good deal and hang up the phone,
but wtf?
he thinks im stupid or something but correct me if im wrong..
isnt that way too over priced?

but for god's sake i cant find any other shop though..

Keep looking..Spohn himself charges $150 for an install. Find someone with a nice MIG welder who knows a thing or two about welding, talk him through it and you should be fine. I posted in a thread a while back on how I did mine, you're welcome to use the pics I posted:

Wow, that is a lot. Around here it is anywhere from $75-150.
A friend of mine is a good welder and will be welding mine on for cheap, $45.

i paid 600 for suspension upgrades. but that included sfc's, panhard bar, rear control arms, relocation brackets, new brake drums, shoes, brake likes, e-brake cables, and more ... 600 JUST for sfc's =

I think its the install itself that drives the price up. If you can bolt them in yourself. and just take the car to have them welded in place. you could save yourself some cash.

The welding is the easy part.

I Had mine welded up for free while i was having some exhaust work done. The tech was really cool and into Camaros that helped.

im gonna keep looking.. Im in Tracy, an hour away from SF,
but I have school &/or work everyday and I dont think I have time to take it out of town for this..

mine is a UMI piece with weld-in type,
and I dont have dual cat or what so ever that would
interfere the installation..

kind of surprising how all the muffler shop just refuses doing this.

I guess i should look into more of hotrod kind of shop..

welll i got alot of things done at the same time, but definitely alot stiffer, no more creeks, rides alot better.

I have the same sfc's in. But I didnt install the peice on the passenger as I did not feel like hacking up the exhaust to make it fit.

For $600, they better be a custom fabrication and powedercoated. When I had mine made years ago, it was only around $250 including the cost of fabrication and materials. At the time, I had a single 3" exhaust and he fabricated a SFC section around the pipe. That section is still in my SFC although I've plated over it for more strength. The 3" exhaust has been gone for many years.

When you're providing the SFC and only need them welded in, I'd say $150 max for the labour.

Maybe the welder thinks the carpet and stuff needs to come out. That's labor intensive work. There have been SFC that go through the floor for more strength. That would take a lot more work.

Maybe he thought you said roll bar. $600 would be an average price to install a 6 pount roll bar.

Either way, $600 is too much to simply weld in customer supplied SFC. The cost for you to drive to the closest city and have them welded in would be less than that.

hopefully my car will be little stiffer too.

anyways I finally found a local speedshop,
who specializes in hotrod stuff.. and they sounded more nice
and they said they sure can weld them in for me.

they couldnt give me a quote until they physically see it(which sounds more legit instead of giving out price right away),
and they seem busy and theyre booked up til next week..
still im gonna give a try on this one.

We charge $240 to install a 3 point connector on thirdgens, that includes cleaning up the floor around the welds and painting or undercoating the area. Its 4 hours labor start to finish and makes for a very nice install.. Remember, some connector designs require the exhaust to be dropped down to do the passenger side and we all know how much fun it is to get the factory bolts loose without breaking them!!
