There are a few things you have to consider when choosing a tire.

First: what rpms are you crossing the traps at now. That tells you whether or not you want to go with a taller tire. with that motor and those gears i would guess you are pretty much maxed out and may want to go a slightly taller. maybe 26" or27". Probably not the 28's you are looking at.

next: manual or auto. some tires don't work as well in a man. car (so i've heard)

also, with the car being all stock, you probably don't need a whole lot of tire to get it to hook. And remember, just because the car doesn't hook up, that doesn't always put only the tires at fault.

I am in a similar situation as you. I am getting another set of stock 91-92 16" rims (i like the style) and i am putting on them a set of M/T 26X10.50-16 E.T. streets. They are 26" tall. I have less gear than you but I am planning on 3.42's. I think that combo should work out pretty well

Good luck. i hope that's the answer you're looking for

stock tires i believe are just under 26". I am just guessing. I don't know if you need to or not. Do you know what you are crossing the traps at?

You could put on either 245 50 16 (stock tire) or go up one size to 255 50 16. The 255 is 26" tall so it will not cause the speedo to be out. As for companies I only use BFG. The preference is yours.
