Air Ride will be installed June 26th
Decided to go all out and to go with an air ride system. It's going to be an all custom fabbed system. The guy who is installing/fabbing it has done over 100 vehicles and is going to do it for a pretty reasonable price. Going with 3/8" lines, 8 valves, digital control panel, 3 gallon tank, viair compressor. Mounting each seperate valve under the car...so it won't be insanely loud inside. I was going to buy a kit from Air Ride Technologies, but this dude has done tons of these air ride systems...and honestly, some of the designs and components he has shown me look better then some of the things that Air Ride Technoliges offers. Should be done with the install by July 4th weekend. So, stay tuned

Re: Air Ride will be installed June 26th
there isn't alot to air ride components but the machined parts need to be quality. make sure he uses weather proof valves. very few companies offer them because of the various patents. this is vital if you are going to keep them on the outside of the car. also keep your compressor away from major heat, exhaust primarily as i doubt you'll put it in the engine bay.
good luck with it, hope it turns out the way you want!

i have two 91's with them and soon a third 91.

in short, an adjustable ride height at the flip of a switch. Ill let the rest explain the details.
Cant wait to see it Shawn, does it take place of the current springs or what? Grab some pictures of the setup when its all said and done.

Re: Air Ride will be installed June 26th
I will definently take tons of pictures of the installation...especially since he is designing it/fabbing it for my car. The air bags take place of your stock springs, although cutting is required to the front spring pockets in order for the bags to fit properly. (not sure about yours Jeff, since I think your running somthing similar to the "shockwave" design for the fronts) There will also be several other things made in order to install the bags. I plan on installing the compressor in the back glove box and the air tank in the spare tire compartment. As more developes, I'll let everyone know. Thanks for the interest guys.

Re: Air Ride will be installed June 26th
Does the ART setup in it's current configuration allow the car to fully compress to the point that the car sits on the exhaust? I'd like to tuck my
18's to the top of the rim, so when you look at a side view the top part of the tire is hidden. Would this be possible?

That's pretty sweet man. I hear the ride is quite a bit better as well. I've never really thought of doing an Air-Ride set-up, but now I'm interested. I'm looking foward to seeing your progress. About what does a system like this run?

depends on how well your exhaust was built. i can yes. with my repaint i modified my fenders so that they sit 1/2" over the top of the rim itself. 18's you would be right at the rim lip if your exhaust is done right.

Re: Air Ride will be installed June 26th
the setup i use to have on my car was right aroun 4k but the custom fabricated qa1 air struts were a really good chunk of that. secondary was the larger weather proof valves, then came the digital control/readout unit, larger capacity/quiet compressor and the last piece that put it over the normal price mark was the remote control. obviously none of this is needed but it's fun when people get too close to your car to make it move on it's own.
bags themselves are cheap, air line is very inexpensive and smc standard valves can be had for as cheap as $15 a valve. to make the setup ride nice you'll need 8 valves. 2 per a corner. one valve lets air in and one lets air out.
if you are building as you go to save money you can get away with only 4 valves but you'll get a boat like feel with the car due to the air transfer. easiest to explain is much like a balloon. this is also called a 2-way setup.
4-way setups run 2 valves on each corner of the car. this keeps the air from moving at all. picture a baloon in it's exact dimension box. you can let air in and out but you can't step on it to transfer the shape of the balloon.
air line is typically plastic and very cheap. you can go to a semi truck supply store in your state and pick up 80% of the items you need. go with standard air pressure valves that are not electric and you could have most all you need for under $200.
my latest system as the ride level unit and i have almost 1k just into the electronics. it's not necessary but it's nice to not have to play with the settings to just drive the car. everyone wants something different.
it's all on what you want but with most things you do get what you pay for. there are alot of helpful links online and we've discussed this alot here as well so a little bit of research will get you along way.

AmorgetRS -
These are the kind of childish remarks that make me not to even be affiliated with TGO. I didn't install my exhaust...does that mean I didn't build my car? No. Somethings I am capable of, some I'm not. Trust me, I've built most of the car with my hands...so yeah, I can call it my own.
Anyhow guys, there will be plenty of pictures with the install. Also, I will be there for the entire installation, so next time, I probably will be able to install an air ride system myself. It's not like I'm dropping the car off and having it done...without me even seeing it.

Re: Air Ride will be installed June 26th
you don't want it to lay out the same or lower? that doesn't make much sense to me.
anyhow this is the part no. AFR6700
http://www.ridetech.com/productinfo/...ce=%24399%2E00
if you want it to lay out even lower or not lower that's dependent on your bumpstops, strut model and caster camber plate. not your air bag.
if you want it to rise faster or slower that's dependent on the size of your air line, valve your pushing air through and lastly the port size on the bag. unless your attempting to hop most standard firestone bag ports are plenty large enough... change your line size to alter your speed.
