I changed out my springs when i did my motor swap from the 6 cyl springs, to iroc springs from an 87 5.0. For some reason, they sit extremely high. I feel like the front of the car is a good inch and a half to two inches high. does anyone know what would cause this, and what could possibly be done to fix it without putting lowering springs on?

either the rear springs are just totally shot, or the front springs are not indexed properly. There are 2 small round holes in the back of the a-arm pocket, the end of the spring needs to be between those two holes or the car will sit high

I thought it might be junk rear springs, but it looks like its sitting in the proper location in the rear, and not the front. would misaligned springs cause it to sit THAT high tho?

The easy thing to say is to index the springs properly and see what happens. You might make sure the spring isn't hung up in the upper pocket.

this might be a stupid question, but i'll ask any ways...

is there a way to turn the spring without lowering the control arm, etc again? compress it and spin maybe? or is it better to just drop everything... i have no issue doing it either way, but i remember how hard it was to even get the springs into place, yet alone get them perfectly lined up...

Last year, I had a shop do an alignment. I gave them specs, but they did it by their "computer" and gave me their version of a "factory" alignment. The front was soft and way high (it drove terribly too). I had them redo it.
If all else fails, check your alignment.

i say check em out to make sure they are seated properly and not hanging up somewhere. if all else fails. you can just pop em out and cut a coil off. cheaper then buying new springs.

i would try everything else that people suggest on here before cutting them if thats what you end up doing.

That's exactly what happened with mine. I cut 1/2 coil out, re-installed them making sure they were indexed and the front was still way high. The springs didn't get set correctly in the upper pocket. Rather easy fix with a spring compressor.

The program in the machine called for 1 degree Positive camber (really- I do not kid). That put the front up in the air and made it drive like your grandmother's Buick.

I too have problems with the front end sitting too high. I bought eibach pro kit fora 1 in drop and kyb gr2's and the front sits about an inch too high. i was told also to line the spring up with the holes in the a arm but i dont have an air compressor anymore and limited tools. I went to midas to see if they would turn the springs for me and the guy told me " that would be expensive" WHO SAYS THAT! is it possible for me to rent a spring compressor from like auto parts store and turn it without dropping everything?

I got a spring compressor to try to twist the springs in place and that was a complete failure. I ended up having to drop the control arm, remove the spring, compress it, line it up, then put it back in. I also removed the rubber boots on the top and bottom, as they were pretty worn, and one was missing anyways. That seemed to give me a good 1/2 inch. When it was all put back together the front end dropped from 29 inches to 27, and sits perfectly level. It looks SO much better... Thanks for all the advice guys

There aren't supposed to be isolators on the bottom.
