Groaning when turning the steering wheel?

I have a 91 Trans Am, stock brakes, with WS6 suspension. The entire suspension is stock as the car has only about 50k miles on it. I wonder if anybody else has had this problem? When I turn the steering wheel, and I have my foot on the brakes, such as when I'm parking, there's this loud goraning sound coming from my front end. When I turn the wheels without the brake applied, there's no sound at all. Does anybody know what could be causing this? The car has been sitting for 3 years and I'm slowly getting everything back into working order. The brakes and tires are the last thing I need to do before she's roadworthy again. Thanks for any help!
