Rear shocks - where to pull carpet?

I bought a pair of red Koni's and the manual says to drop the back seat down and pull up a piece of the carpet to get to the top of the shocks.

I was poking around where I thought the shock top may be, but I don't see a piece of carpet that would pull up nicely. Can anyone provide a picture or guidance as to where exactly should I be pulling up the carpet?

Thanks!

Re: Rear shocks - where to pull carpet?

its right at the top of the hump behind the seats, you have the pull up the while piece of carpet and you will see 2 foam pieces covering the shock mounts. Around the area where the pins are that the rear seat backs clip into that come out of the plastics.

they are not under the plastics, but right next to them. You have the pull the carpet out from under the plastics though.

Re: Rear shocks - where to pull carpet?

Just pull up the plastic on the side. The hardware is located right where the hump slopes down in front of the gas tank on the side. There is a little dip filled in with a chunk of foam.

It's easy to do.

Re: Rear shocks - where to pull carpet?

Lower the back seats, and pull the carpet at the bottom of the seat back up to get to the upper shock mounts. That's the way mine was at least.
I, uh, retro fitted mine to ease access. I cut a triangle out above the mounts large enough to get the foam out and remove the shocks. The material is still there and you can't tell I did it unless you know it's there. I did some sewing at the ends of the cuts so that it wouldn't get any larger, but I can get to the shocks much quicker.
