tubular k member hits steering !!!!!!!!
as of this weekend since i put in the new front end together....pa racing front end tubular kit with coilovers....went in fine no problems
now i went to put back the steering links which i took out as one unit so i could have flipped anything around and it goes back in one way...
i put it in and the tie rod ends that go to the wheel knlucles for the steering links hit the k member....
so i called him and told him, he tells me hes had a few ppl with these problems and that i need a pitman arm and a idler arm from a v6 car, which should be shorter then the v8 stuff and it would clear it...
now i went and looked up and called parts stores and they all carry the same part numbers for the v6 and v8 cars....now i dont know what to do....anyone have any idea if this is true and the cars came with differ suspension geometry.....
HEEELPPPPP MEEEEE!!!!

Re: tubulak k member hits steering !!!!
You're welcome.
I havent personally heard of PA setup doing that. I'm not sure V6 parts are the solution either, IIRC it was G-body (Monte Carlo, Regal, etc) that should be used. I dont even know if the V6 parts are different. I dont know why they would be.
If it was me though, I'd send the part back. Thats my standard response, people dont like it too much though. Seems like even with poor production tolerances GM still got the K-member to clear but as is typical with aftermarket parts they often do NOT fit. I'd say that is a problem with the aftermarket, not the car.

I really don't think there's a difference between v6 and v8

Re: tubulak k member hits steering !!!!!!!!
The only difference between the v6 and v8 k memember is the location of the engine mounts . All other frontend components are the same .

Re: tubulak k member hits steering !!!!!!!!
I have heard of people doing that . You just take the inner tie rod and put it on front of the centerlink instead of behind it .
