Creaking sound - help me find it
89 Vert Spohn SFC's welded in
UMI springs and Bilstein
Strut tower brace
new/fresh everything- everything.
The creaking/knocking started randomly about 3-4 months ago. I cannot recall anything I did or that happened to the car that I could link as a possible cause.
It starts to happens are very low speed (4+ mph) and it doesn't need to be rough road. Just slow rolling.
It is most pronounced at street speed. Turning or straight does not matter.
It sounds like it is coming from behind the dash, on the cabin side of the firewall. It sounds like something larger as opposed to a loose trim panel, etc.
MAYBE - on the passenger side but it seems like the knock is moving along the structure so it makes it hard to narrow down to a specific area
Dash is tight
I recently had the K-member, triangular factory "bolt on" K-braces, wonderbar, etc, and various points along the front end side frames and factory reinforcing plates (near the front footwells) welded up. There was a little cracking, particularly on the driver's side and I was hopeful that would do it, but no luck.
The car drives straight, brakes straight, is straight.
My only thoughts right now are a strut mount (though they are both 2-year old AC Delco professional) or one of my struts however jamming the car up and down produces no movement at the mount and no sounds. The very slow speed occurrence aspect of this is curious.
Looking for ideas....
