SDPC hp 350 vortec tbi crate ?'s
I was doing some browsing over there and noticed they only rate this motor as having 280 hp. They rated it at 330 when it first came out.
Does anyone have this motor and have any comments?
Would a larger tbi, injector, fuel pump, prom & headers allow it to reach 330 hp?
Here is the link.

Car: GTO
Engine: GM 350HO, 4.6 Overhead cam, 413 Wed
Got mine from Jegs.
I swaped my LO3 out for a GM Performance 350HO "Base" motor a couple months ago. Very easy and straight forward swap, with little or no mods required. The 350HOs potential could be limited by TBI, and a stock computer. 350 injectors, custom or 350 Caprice TBI chip, headers, and a good intake should give you what your after. Rather than a double specific intake for the Vortec heads one should get a good single plane intake and TBI adapter.

When the engine was first developed it was rated at 330hp which it should produce, but since they had not actually dynoed the engine, they backed the rating off to the listed 280hp. The guy that did the work on this engine for S&D (Brian) in now working for Sunset Racecraft in Lubbock. http://www.sunsetracecraft.com/main.htm. He has this engine in his own car and would be more than happy to talk to you about it.
Brian worked with me on a 383 I purchased from Sunset for my '90 Jimmy. Vortec heads, Edlebrock MPFI, LT1 cam, it is a great upgrade for my tired old 350.
