Ultimate TBI

Most people on this board w/ respectable times have 'ultimate TBI mods' listed in their profiles. Im assuming you are all refering to this article. https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...matetbi2.shtml
Now im considering buying a throttlebody out of a junkyard and dremmeling the hell out of it as the article suggests. Is it a good idea to pick one up from a scrap yard (i have a mortal fear of dremmeling the one on there right now) and then just swap them when im done. Should i get the 350 injectors when i do this also. Should i get the injectors from the junkyard also, or buy them new. Is there any difference in the throttle bodys off of the 305's and the 350's or is it just injector sizes. Thanks a bunch...

I would do the same, buying a junkyard throttle body and "Ultimating" that. The 350 TB's and the 305 TB's are exactly the same except for the injectors. If you have a stock or fairly stock 305 don't bother with the injectors, you don't need them. Keep your 305 injectors.

I was scared as hell too, but once you have the throttle body in hand, it becomes apparent and easier than once though.. just fina a good bit of pictures.. its hard to do wrong.

If you can find a junk yard one cheap, that's definitely the way to go.. lets you take your time on the grinding and polishing without trying to get your car back up on the road..

I picked up a free TB from a friend with a maro that some punk threw a molotov in (I haven't seen the car since.. nor do I want to.. I'd cry or kill.. or both).. sensors, injectors, etc were toast.. but the TB castings are beautiful.. other than the soot. (somehow the FPR diaphram survived too, but I don't think I'd risk using it). Thinking of turning it into an ash tray, though.. rather spend my time on a 454 tbi.

So don't bother with the 350 injectors at all? How much horse power can my 305 injectors handle, a build up is being planned, but i dont know how long it will take and i'd rather just do it right now. Also, does anyone have any pics, or a link that i could find a diagram on, im not to educated on the parts of the TB. How much should i expect to pay a junk yard for a TB, sounds like most of you had the same idea, great minds think alike!
-thanks again

oh, well if a build up is in the furure then shoot for the 350 injectors, since youll be doing the afpr mod to your tbi, right? then you can turn your fp down. dewey made a good point earlier, screw that crap and just get a 454 tbi and calibrate for the extras. i think thats what he was getting at. i wish i wud have done that.

Don't use 350 injectors right now. If you plan on a buildup get the 350 ones and save them but use the 305 injectors, the 350 ones are overkill for a stock 305 or even mildly modded 305.

Well because of a reality check and lack of money i guess you could hardly call the planned a 'buildup'. 1.6 rollers, new intake (stealth im thinking), and full 3inch exhaust for now. NOS if funds permit. Im guessing the 305 ones could easially handle this, especially w/ what you guys are saying. am i right?

One more thing, where do i get a good manual/service book for my car? I dont have jack shi+ now and its bugging me.
