Connecting PCV to Open Element
1992 Firebird 305 TBI
When I did the open element mod, I was left with a tube from the
passenger side valve cover just standing there.
Ever since then, I've had trouble with crankcase pressure poping
the PCV valve out of it's grommet on the driver's side.
I know K&N has these little adapters that fit between the
top and bottom plates of the air cleaner, and allow you to
connect that tube to it. Has anyone seen these? Or know where
I can find one?

Are you talking about the breather? When I had my open element, I just got a tiny filter and hooked it to the tube that went into the AF housing.

I assume you are talking about the filter on the rear of the passenger side valve cover? You can use any 3/4" push in breather.

I've seen those, but what I am looking for looks like a small
peice of sheetmetal, about 1x3" that sits between the bottom and top of the air filter housing up ag ainst the filter (on the outside). It has a nipple on it to connect to a small hose, like
the one that runs down to the valve cover.
I saw one in a catalog at the autoparts store last year,
I should have bought it when I had the chance.
Been driving around with the open element for about 2 years now.
Will the breather solve my pressure issue?
Or is it completely unrelated?

Just pull the whole tube out of the valve cover and put a 3/4" push-in breather right in there. Works fine and cleans up one of the many black tubes on the passenger side.

I just took the stock breather filter (the one that sits on the inside of the stock air cleaner houseing) with that stock tube and let it sit right up against my open element. It's worked great for a year now and I've never had any problems. It even kinda looks like it was supposed to be like that
