Walbro 255 fuel pump gas mileage question

I am looking at the group buy and am wondering if this is a good replacement pump for the stock pump in my 92RS L03??? I know you say it "should" fit all Third gens, but will it change my gas mileage? Right now while I'm waiting for my GTO, the RS is my only car and I need it to keep getting 24-26 MPG.

All un-used fuel will travel down the return line. You just have more blood runnin' through the veins until your motor needs it

Maybe I missed something, but I thought that the 255lph pumps were a little too much for the stock TBI fuel pressure regulators?

I have heard some people say that it can blow through the diaphram in the regulator but I know a whole bunch of people running one without this problem. I guess it is just rumors maybe

Nope, I am running an external pump on my TBI engine meant fof MPFI applications. I guess maybe if you were pushing your injectors to 30+ psi and had an old diaphram you might have to worry about it.

Theres the possibility of blowing out the diaphram. I accidentally dead-headed my pump yesterday when I was setting the pressure and the diaphram was briefly exposed to 100+ psi. I knew 16 psi was the max safe pressure given the low 22 lbs of compressed seat pressure that the stock holley spring has, but I thought Id try to get 18psi anyway. Probably lucky it didnt blow out. Got to 17 and the seat on the diaphram got too close and got sucked into the return passage and blocked all the flow.

As far as it being too much, it may or may not be. My holley injector pod has virtually the same construction as a stock tbi one and the parts in the pressure regulator are the same ones used in a stock tbi and it can manage 10-11 psi with the pump going full tilt. 190 lph would be more appropriate, though.

So far I have not seen any problems with the 255 pump myself, and witht that page that was just linked I need to do some research to make sure the GSS340 is the right pump...

Looks to me that the 190 would supply all our tbi needs and then some. Even mpfi users should be happy with the 190 as well if I read the charts correctly.
