tbi inj spray at idle

While fixing a vacuum leak I noticed that fuel was dropping from the pass side injector. I didn't see the same from driver side inj. Both throttle plates had fuel puddling on them. With 146,000 miles I'm guessing that the 2 bottles of Redline Inj cleaner didn't help much. Besides turbo City, any other place to get them sonic cleaned that you'd consider using.

DRIPPING from an injector? No, that's not right. It should be spraying out in a nice cone shape with little tiny baby-sized droplets. Like working a spray bottle, almost. No big solid lumpy droplets finding their way out under any circumstances.

Fuel will puddle on the tops of the throttle plates to some extent since there is fuel constantly being sprayed on them by the injectors above. At idle there isn't much room between the edge of the throttle plate and the inside of the throttle bore for the fuel to squeeze past. I'm just talking about it being wet, not like it's got puddles of fuel sitting on top of it.

I'd say it's new injector time if "miracle in a can" didn't work for you.

so you think it's not worth the money to try getting them sonic cleaned. The driver side throttle plate had fuel on it but nothing like the pass side.

Check/replace the injector o-rings. The one on the bottom probably blew out. Id bet the injector is still good

i got this throttle body off of some big van, it's the same kind tho. so when i got it home i broke it down and cleaned it, and the o-rings were in good shape. they dont leak or anything, they are just spraying A LOT.

From what I hear your prom is just incorrect for your injectors/motor. The thread starters problem definatly sounds like a leak around the base of the injector. This can be checked by turning the fuel pump on with the car off or just watching the tbi while the pump primes.

With those miles, you might want to just do a TBI rebuild and get a kit from Autozone or Advance Auto. I got a GP Sorenson kit from Advance and it includes everything you need to rebuild the TBI...all gaskets, O-rings, etc. It is cheap too, so I'd recommend it.

Thanks dimented & V8, I'll get a rebuild kit and see what happens.
