lookin for motor advice, please help!

i have never done any motor work but i think i wanna learn on a 350 swap. i would LIKE to run with the ls1 guy but its not mandatoy. here is what im lookin at, i can get it all for arond $250. i think i will keep it tbi for simplicity

a .060 over 350 4 bolt main, stock crank has been polished, factory rods re-fitted with ARP rod bolts, factory replacement pistons, moly rings it was rebuilt and had all that work done and was ran one summer, went to change heads on it, and the threads in one bolt hole on the deck pulled out. so it needs helicoiled.

heads are 416 castings, no port work, fresh valve job, no springs (you'd want to put on springs to match your cam anyways)

he will separate the heads for $75.
does this seem to be a good deal and what cam and springs do i need to keep it streetable. i would be running a 700r4, any stall recomendations. all help is welcome as i would be a newbe to iner motor work

A 350 TBI can be a great motor if you properly set it up. You will need at least 350 TBI inectors and an extensive amount of chip tuning. Off the shelf aftermarket chips won't suffice and you will have to learn how to do it yourself. Cam selection will be up to you. 416 heads are decent heads and respond pretty well when ported. The price sounds good for the shortblock but to run with LS1 cars you will need to spend far more coin on the rest of the car. You will need a full 3" exhaust from the headers to the tailpipe, intake manifold, suspension mods, chip work, gears, PROM tuning, fuel upgrades, etc etc. I would spend some time using the search function to read up on 350 and 383 TBI set-ups. Your searches will yield many threads that go into cam selection and overall motor set-ups.

i know that it would be extensive to keep up with a fourth i just want to have a good base. i dint wanna dump money into a motor to just pull it out because it wont be enough. i want something that would be good for the long haul. thanks for the help though. i am thinkin about getting the suspension work out of the way this winter (something i know about) and reading up on motor work so i can switch in the future. i just dont wanna miss a good deal
