Procharger Super Charger for LO3's

Humm I wonder now where BLOWNRS went but I was thinking about a super charged LO3. Its no big hidden thing that the LO5 super charger will fit on the LO3s. I do know that there are several companys that do make super chargers that will work on our cars. Now I can't remember what he all did to his car but it was not that big of a change. Then again I would like to know if he had any head work. Correct me if I am wrong but that would be the big bottle neck in the whole ordeal. If you had a 454 TB on there and a decent intake, and good exhaust ( I know that sounds like a lot of stuff but most people have almost that much stuff done to there cars) that could be one fast RS. They (procharger) claims that you can get a 50 to 80% increase in HP. Hummm, well if you have a T-5 you have 190hp stock, throw in those mods and my guess is as good as yours as to what me might have on our had. The only other thought that comes to mind is the cam but when you do your head swap some 1.6 rockers could help it out. Any one have any intrest in this build up idea? I have the space to do it, I don't really want to spend all that money if I don't know that it will make a fast car but if it will, why not? Does anyone have any reasons why I should not look into this? Hope to hear ALL your ideas. Thanks in advance!

For 2,400 bucks I think u could buy a 350 block for that much. 2,400 is WAY to much money to spend on a 305.

the beauty of the supercharger is that it will be able to be adapted to a 350 easily if you should decide to do that in the future. I just drove my dads chevelle with a ZZ4 and a 142 weiand supercharger and with only 6psi the car feels 10 times faster!

Vortec,

could you answer the following questions for me, PLEASE!!! I have been trying to get these answers for a while, now. THx in advance:

0) Do you have a lockup converter???
1) what is your overall mileage?
2) what is highway-only mileage?
3) at what highway rpm and at what speed?
4) Have you had it dynoed???
5) How much vacuum you pulling at idle?
6) what idle speed are you running/do you think is best?

Well 350 blah, I want my fuel milage. If I want hella power there is a 69 Chevelle to play with. Don't need 1,000 HP. If I ever want a 350, it will still work AS IS. Thank you god for the GM Gen I small block. BTW: you can get them much cheaper then 2,400. I have seen them for 1,600-1,700. Is there any takers though on the idea. I know it has been talked about before but I feel that this would be not that bad of an idea. As has been stated before if you are going to buy add ons they should fit the 350 so they can be upgraded. This does.. Humm. Works for me. Pablo, NJ, any of you guys I would like to hear your opion no matter how small or non-technical.

fastbroker,

After I put the new engine in I fragged my 170k mile trans and replaced it with one I already had built up. What this means to you is that I dont know for sure the kind of mileage Im getting because I have a non-funtioning speedometer and odometer. However, I will give you the #s that I observed before the old trans fragged with the new motor.

0) yes I have a Lockup converter, Its controlled by a manual switch on my center consol and I engage it whenever I feel the car shift into OD or when I want to race at high speed.

1)Overall mileage Varies a ton depending on driving method, but I will say that was able to squeeze about 15 MPG when I would conciously use OD and the lockup instead of just driving around in drive.

2) I would say that I pull about 2200 RPM at cruise speed on the highway, I dont drive the car on the highway for extended periods of time so I dont have a rock solid figure for you.....but I wouldnt put 18-20 out of the relm of possibility.

3)+4) I havent had the car dynoed or tested vac., but I do have working power brakes and heater controls if thats what youre worried about.

5) The car idles at about 800RPM. Its quite lopey and if I have someone else drive it for some reason I will turn the idle up near 1000 for ease of operation. It takes a bit getting used to, not stalling when putting into gear or turning AC on (yes I have Working AC). I would say that about 800 RPM is a good comprimise between loping along and not spinning the tires when shifting out of park.

Hope this helps,
Vortec

Does it pull "OK" at 2200rpm in OD on the highway? ie, can it pull up the moderate hills or is a downshift necessary upon any incline???

Thanks for taking the time, BTW. later

Hey ok man, if u want to spend the money for a blower like that fine, but has anyone seen that Blown305TBI guy's time? I know he needs a cam and some tuning but the he runs a 14.68 or something like that with the BLOWER! Seems to me that I would spend money on internal mods like a cam,heads,intake,etc... first and then get a blower if u have any money ever after that.

She pulls hard in OD. I never have to downshift on grades or while passing (though I will for fun). Be careful when flooring while locked up in OD, the downshift to 2nd is mean as hell.
